It's doing a 7-nt western Caribbean, very similar to what I did last year on the Celebrity Millennium B2B so I'll be able to spend my entire seven days focused on the ship and the many venues on board to eat, relax, and be entertained by.

That's great David. I read on the other board that you had booked the Allure. She is my favorite ship. Cruised four times on her since she entered service. It will be hard to see everything in one week. The entertainment is not to be missed. I have photos in my link below of the Allure if you care to look. She's a beauty. If what they are posting about RCI's menu upgrade then that will be even better because RCI needed some major help in the MDR department.

Hi Gordon! I am very excited about going on the Allure. as a matter of fact I actually spent last night going through your pictures after digging up the link from the 'other' board. Wonderful pictures!!! I spent the last two nights before checking out Ernie's pictures as well.

In addition to picture surfing I've spent the last two days putting together a 'daily grid' for where I want to eat so that I don't miss out on a thing. Already have lunch and dinner reservations at Izumi's, Giovanni's Table, 150 Central Park, and Chops.

I saw the new menu items supposedly being 'announced' as well, but like you I do not like big dining rooms and to me some of the small talk that accompanies sitting with 10 strangers is a bit uncomfortable.

130 days and counting! Yea!

David, I'm so happy for you that your getting away on the ALLURE OF THE SEAS. I too can't wait to see your photos and reports back from the ship.

Add the QM2 to the list of cruises Cruise Talkers are making. I'll be on a crossing during November.

Hi Frank! I actually looked at two voyages on QM2 - a w/b transatlantic and an 11-night Canada sailing (both in September) but just couldn't bring myself around into taking a suit or tux. That is the single biggest thing keeping me from booking her.

And Barry, I surely won't be competing with your shipboard video-style coverage. Just a week of relaxing and eating.

This time I won't be doing any kind of LIVE report as it will eat into my 'relaxation mode', and I definitely will not be taking a LOT of pictures as Ernie and Gordon pretty much covered the entire ship.

As I had mentioned before I visited two of the same ports of call this past December so I really won't be getting off the ship for sightseeing, just focusing on enjoying the ship while in port.

And I am pretty sure a week on her will not be enough!

Hi David,

Chuck and I rode the AMERICAN QUEEN during June, and she has an elegant casual dress code. I took my seersucker suit, bow tie and bucks and wore them to the Captain's Dinner. Infact each evening I wore a self tied bow tie to dinner. To me it was a touch of class. I truly missed the elegance of a dining room filled with diners that are attired as if they're at a special event. So packing a suit and or tux to go on the QM2 is no problem for me.

Frank

Hi Frank!

Added your June cruise to the list. Was it amazing!?! I actually have a picture of you guys dressed up for formal night on Celebrity Millennium and you were wearing your bow tie then as well. Very smart looking!

For my cruise on Celebrity Mercury two years ago I did buy a brand new suit, had the (solo) formal night pictures taken, etc. I really hate the way I look in a suit but everyone here checked out those portraits and said I look quite handsome (just being nice?). Didn't take it last year mainly because I was going to be on an extended holiday (land/sea) for 17 days and to prevent excess airline luggage fees I just packed one suitcase. Since I am only going for a week holiday this year the suit might find its way into suitcase.

Thanks to a new job, our Carnival Conquest cruise had to go, however, it has been replaced with a 4 day, 40th birthday stupidity cruise with our friends on the Sept 24th sailing of the Carnival Inspiration.

Please feel free to bail us out of jail in Ensanada, it's bound to happen to one of our party

I'm sure we will be adding to the list at some point, my wife's parents asked our niece's (their grand daughters) where they would like to go for the family trip next year (first error, don't let a 7 and 11 year old decide any travel plans), they decided on a Disney cruise to Alaska.

While I love my in-laws, I may have to have a serious sit down with them and explain that 7-14 days of Disney is really to much for most sane people to deal with
