I personally feel its pathetic when any of our board members routinely engage in the practice of attacking other board members...a case of the 'pot calling the kettle black'?
I used to read this board everyday, but got bored and disgusted with the petty and constant personal attacks several board members seem to engage in at every opportunity.
Be the better person and walk away from the playground bully.

There are lots of nice people on this board, I would say the majority. 20 I have met in person, and 2 on a cruise. It is human nature to have people you cannot stand in any group.
We are talking ships as a hobby here, not negotiating mideast cease fires or gay marriage bans.
Despite the Norway temper tantrum, SSMaritime has interesting stuff, as do most of the sites.
If one wants to save a ship, cruise on it. The lines understand bookings more than anything else.

Thanks...just airing my opinion. I get along with everyone here.
Just wishful thinking on my part...
EXCELLENT point, David.
I can see it now,.....
The bow of the lovely ssFRANCE/NORWAY will be sliced off, topple to the ground, and ssMARITIME will report that the authorities are forcing the yard to reattach it.
Other than being self-righteous and totally into himself, I like Rueben,....he makes a good sandwich.

It is sad enough that we see such a beautiful ship being scrapped. Arbitrarily accusing people (this is so ridiculouse) and nagging does not make it better at all - it actually is disgraceful.
Even more disgusting is how some people like Reubens still try to take advantage of this sad situation to get some attention. No surprise that people object that.
So I'm a playground bully, am I, dmwnc1? Why? Because I disagree with him and am fed up with the rubbish he posts which he gets from Reubens? They're venom towards Star/NCL is out of control. If they care that much, why aren't either of them out in India trying to save her, especially Reubens with all his 'contacts'? Have you actually read the posts he's made over the past few months? That includes the threads that got edited and deleted? If he said something constructive it wouldn't be so bad. But he gets into arguments with people because he doesn't accept people think differently. How many more threads are going to be ruined because of that?
It takes two to make an argument and I doubt anything you say will ever convince whatshisname, that he might just possibly be a bit off base.
All the nasty stuff that keeps getting posted about NCL etc is like being at the funeral of a dear loved one and having to listen to a lot of petty bickering about inane matters, rather than showing the dear departed the respect she deserves.
Ignore him and mourn with the rest of us. I did two cruises in my life and I loved every minute of them both, and they were both on the Norway. I did that because I wanted to try and recapture something of what it was like in the really golden years of sailing. I think in a large part that I did just that.
Seeing her on the beach like that really breaks my heart but what else is there, to do, save mourn and remember the better days, soon that will be all we have.
You are right. And it's been wonderful these past couple of days with no bickering. I think, for me, losing Norway is worse than Canberra. Although I never sailed on her she was the ship that sparked my interest back in 1974 and also, when Canberra went, I only had my dad to discuss it with. Now I know all of you and have shared in people's memories, photos and tributes so it brings me closer to her, if you know what I mean.

Within reason everyone on this site has the right to express their opinion. I hope that more people will take Glencoe's suggestion to heart when they find themself disagreeing with another member. If you disagree, state your case and move on. If another member continues to "beat a dead ship" let the moderators have a chance to step in.
Arguing over the contents of another web site doesn't really have a place on this forum. Just move on.
You are welcome to reference something you have read elsewhere but starting now, any more unsupported conspiracy theory posts regarding the France/Norway shall be deleted.

It is, Dambrosi. I wish now I'd got photos of the previous Albatros instead of just video when she was here in 2000. I didn't even get any of Caronia even though I have her as Vistafjord and Saga Ruby so at least that's better than nothing. With all this over Norway it makes me more determined to get photos of anything at all, even ships I hate, because you never know when you'll never be able to again. Though if we ever had Pride of America by chance I think I'd skip that. LOL!

Indeed Patsy, Glencoe is correct.
Born and raised a true Southern Gentleman, I still say "Yes Sir" and "Yes ma'am", hold doors open for the ladies, and always say 'Thank You', 'may I', and 'Please'.
My apologies if offense was taken. I have the utmost respect for most board members, even though I have met almost none of you.
(..OK, it was meant to be a joke...)
moodus2, the writing was on the wall for Norway back in 2001 when she did her farewell transatlantic before getting a reprieve. Star Cruise or not, her days were numbered with, as you say high oil prices, and also her outdatedness. You onlly have to look at Aquitania to see what happens when ships in the fleet are antiques who can't compete with newer ones.
LOL Indarra!
It would appear that the Supreme Court in India are now asking why the ex ss Norway was moved by tugs from her anchorage to just off of the breakers yard at Alang as they did not give permission for her to be moved.
One good thing is that she is still afloat at high tide as the rise and fall there can be over 30 feet.
