There is nothing Italian about Costa anymore. Pity because italian interior design can be stunning

Costa Romantica penned by Pierluigi Cerri is my favorite of the boxboat ship interiors.

Costa now are Destiny clones with 3 yellow garbage cans for funnels.

Do a search for "QV Commodore Club". There are other unseen interior images of the QV there too.

There were many different ships in the Cunard fleet - some actually had 'no relation' to what is considerd as typical for Cunard (whatever this actually is) - so now it's a HAL, Princess hybrid with some 'liner flavoured' public rooms - what is the problem? It's a 'quick fix' to get a new ship for Cunard - and I guess it's not that bad for that.
Another possibility to quickly add some tonnage (it has been mentioned some time ago) - might be to move some R-ships to Cunard. But I guess 'big liners' (with this retro interior) are more what the public expects.

The problem is that some of us who cruise a variety of cruise lines prefer some degree of brand differentiation. If cruising on Carnival is the same as sailing on Costa, and Cunard becomes a replica of Princess, then why have separate brands to begin with? Why pay more to sail on Cunard when I can have the same style ship with Princess?

In addition, I personally would rather not see Cunard receive a "quick fix" ship just for the sake of expansion. I would rather have the money spent to create hardware that is unique and fully fitting within the Cunard product. Of course stock holders and company executives have a different perspective.

Wise words, but we are probably in the minority. Most cruise passengers are probably more likely to stick to one brand - never knowing or caring that their are 'clones' out there.

Becuse you can fool most of the people most of the time. I bet there are P&O faithfulls that would never dream of sailing with HAL, Costa, or even Cunard and vice-versa.

Ernie, you have succinctly summed up the feeling of those of us who are a little sceptical about the Queen Victoria.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again.. sadly..

Carnival Corp is the General Motors of the cruise industry. The Queen Victoria is the Cadillac Cimarron of the "Carnival fleet".
