Reports are that she left Freeport last week bound for India on her final voyage. It also seems that she will be for sale until she arrives.
Is this true?

Definately sad news. So the reminding "artifact" left from Premier is the SS OCEANIC?

Just wondering, is BRB II worth 15 millions?

My Grand mother sailed her every two years. I remember as a kid looking at her pictures onboard. As a matter of fact I once met her at port everglades in the early eighties and she aranged for me to board and have lunch with her, what a great memory of being served in the main dinning room I however did not have the for thought to take pictures. Good bye old girl thanks for taking good care of my Grandmother. Where is the old Oceanic anyway? What was the earlier name of BRBII when with Premire?

OCEANIC is sailing 7-day cruises out of Barcelona for Pullmantur.

Eugenio C (Costa: 1966-84)

Eugenio C was the last classic transatlantic liner built in Italy, entering service in 1966. She replaced Federico C on Costa's main route to South America, on which she served for 10 years. As time passed, more time was devoted each year to cruising. After 1983, the only Atlantic crossings were twice yearly positioning voyages. Eugenio C became Eugenio Costa in 1984. She finished her last cruise for Costa on November 1996, but has since sailed for Direct Cruises and Premier.

Edinburgh Castle (Direct Cruises: 1996-2000)

Eugenio Costa was sold to Lowline Shipping, who chartered her to Direct Cruises, becoming their first ship, the Edinburgh Castle. Direct Cruises had been formed by Direct Holidays to operate low cost direct mail holidays, sailing from northern British ports. They proved to be a threat to the success of rivals Airtours, and were bought out jointly by Airtours and Carnival. The charter was not renewed for 2000 when the owners, Lowline, filed for bankruptcy. Ownership passed to their main creditor Cammell Laird, who have subsequently chartered the ship to Premier Cruise Line, as their Big Red Boat II. She has not sailed since the collapse of Premier in September 2000.

Congratulations !!
I am sure yoy ll enjoy it, but please don't expect an anglosaxon experience, nor a very upmarket, formal one.
IT is very spanish, relaxed and yet not. Lots of Spanish families, and certainly now, in the week after Easter.
The ship was changed internally a lot in the '80s, and Pullmantur didn't change that.
They only translated the names of the lounge, so the Broadway Lounge, for exepmple became the Salon Broadway, and the Seven Continents Restaurants, the Restaurante Siete Continentes.;
In my albums here on CT there are some pics of the ship, and the voyage.
They have dutch languages menu cards, so you can ask for it ! (other wise, some "notes" of Spanish will make everything easier)

Bon voyage !

J

Thanks Johan,

We are with a group, 2 Dutch, 3 English, 1 Scot.
One of them made the same cruise last year, so he will be our guide

We are booked in R004 on Restaurant deck.
We are only confused about the itinerary. All Dutch travel agents show the route counter clockwise and so does the English website of Pullmantur. The Spanish website of Pullmantur and Muchoviaje show the route clockwise.
We just wait and see.

I think it will be clockwise, first Villefranche, and last Tunis and a day at sea.
I did it last year counterclockwise, but after her problems, and being constantly late in Tunis, and thus in every other port Pullmantur, I think, decided to alter the route clockwiselike, as did Holiday Dream last year.

Please take and post photos of her, Willem! Those of us on the other side of the Atlantic don't see much of her anymore, but her fans (like myself) always enjoy seeing those beautiful, classic lines.
