I don't think this was in the plan for the "Fun Ship 2.0" upgrades.

Carnival Cruise waiter charged with child sex

BY ADAM H. BEASLEY

A waiter working aboard the Carnival cruise ship Liberty stands accused of having sex with a 14-year-old female passenger in a public bathroom while the ship was at sea earlier this month.

Kert Clyde Jordan, 35, of Grenada, has been charged with engaging in a sexual act with a person under the age of 16, the U.S. Attorney’s Office announced Tuesday. Jordan made an initial court appearance Monday, and as of Tuesday evening, remained in federal lockup.

Jordan is accused of luring the 14-year-old girl into a Lido deck bathroom for sex while the Liberty was in international waters on Nov. 4 and 5. The alleged victim was on vacation with her family, but didn’t tell them of the encounter until they returned home, authorities said. She later identified Jordan as the man she had sex with while on board the ship, leading to his arrest on Saturday.

Carnival Cruise Lines, based in Miami, said it is cooperating with the investigation.

“Carnival has a zero tolerance policy for crime and we take any allegations of crime extremely seriously,” the company said in a statement.

Really sad and unfortunately all too common (not speaking specifically about Carnival or cruises)

Number #1 rule, don't have sex with the passengers...

Now I am not condoning this in any way, shape or form, but they didn't say rape, as we all know kids don't look like we did when we were that age and they sure don't act like it, not that I am giving any excuses for his actions.

I had a conversation with a friends (single mother) son a week or so ago, pointing out that he is about to turn 18 and the girls that are throwing themselves at him (and they are) are all out of bounds come his birthday, just for this reason.

Getting back on topic, don't touch the passengers, it makes life so much easier and there are enough willing women in the crew that you shouldn't have to.

It's a valid point. I'm guessing this was consensual sex although still illegal due to the girls age.

Possibly mommies little angel was in reality a drunken ho, then became angry when this crew member didn't give her the time of day the rest of the cruise. At that point she turned him in. Just one possible scenario of many.

As you say, the bottom line is that crew members should not have sex with passengers (things were different when I worked onboard ... and there was plenty of sex with *adult* passengers).

Many teenage girls are far more sexually aggressive than teenage boys. In the late 1980s, my best friend's brother was charged w/rape after a girl (who was extremely attracted to him) became angry that he would not date her after they had a one-time sexual encounter. It was all resolved when his mother heard hard-core sexual messages that she left on his home answering machine. Of course nothing happened to the girl (when does it ever?) while the boy was held overnight in jail until the answering tape was handed over to the police.

This is absolutely sick. Parents need to know where and with whom there kids are with.

I make sure whenever my kids and I go to public places, whether it be on a cruise or elsewhere and we are separated, I know where my kids are at all times and I make sure they are where they say they are.

Bottom line people need to watch their children, and this what happens when they let them just roam the ship.
