AM currently aboard Destiny and they have been working the entire voyage, however The Italian Shipbuilder has flown workers to the ship. Ship board workers have begun removing decking from the sun deck! In Magala Spain many deck chairs were junked and many more are wrapped on deck ready to be removed. I have pictures but have always had trouble uploading to this site. Any help? I can email them to someone?

Great screan grab, that was while Costa was still moving as she ended up just behind us. Most of the deck chairs are gone and stored under the Bridge. Sun deck starboard is mostly gone. I will upload once I get off as it's too slow to upload now. Final formal night tomorrow, Crew Photo tomorrow. Many Italian Ship builders now onboard with their families. Cheers off to dinner.

I think that ship only updates its webcam every 15 minutes, so that screen grab is AMAZING considering the timing and luck involved in getting that perfect angle!

Looking forward to your report and pictures!!!

Be glad she made it across the Atlantic, being the oldest of the class. The Density ships have had their share of severe mechanical failures lately: Splendor, and Triumph. Density's bow thrusters failed a couple of months ago and needed tugs to berth.

We arrived in Venice in great shape. Destiny was loaded with dumpsters on lido deck and left Venice about 7:00 pm with three tugs trailing her. She was spun in Livorno by one tug at the stern.other then that the cruise was great. Sun deck was gone by the time we reached Venice

Pretty cool photo's with the hotel ship so close. The crew that were staying with Destiny were ecstatic that they were going to be staying in passenger cabins instead of crew cabins!

Hotel ship?

Are you saying the Louis Olympia (ex. Song of America) on the dock next door is working as a hotel for the crew during the refit?

Did Carnival charter it for that purpose of the shipyard?

Indeed... and it is rather amusing that Carnival have chartered an ex RCI ship from Louis for their crew Should have kept Costa Allegra a bit longer it seems.

Thanks. I missed that in the news on the refit. I wondered why the Louis ship was sitting there in the photos. I thought maybe she was at the shipyard separately. Good for Louis because it gives them some extra income at a time when the ship would otherwise be idle.

Carnival was pretty sharp too, about 250 of the small crew to start with had transferred to Destiny the day we departed. Mostly being romanians and the like. Carnival had charted buses me them in Venice to take them home. The rest that stayed on board were recieving fire watch training while we crossed the Atlantic . Crew said the entire ship was to be turn off while being worked on so nobody was living onboard during refit. I asked the Captain and he was not sure if his quarters were going to be refit? The behind the scenes tour the guy who ran the laundry was excited about an entire new system being installed as the old machines looked tired. The guest laundry was so bad that they we the dryers up to run for free and the eventually the washers too.
