The title sounds like the start of a "who's it going to be" theory thread but at 1.5 years away we already know the answer, Kristin Chenoweth. Royal Caribbean ran a commercial during the Oscars Red Carpet hosted by Kristen Chenoweth to make the announcement. They also launched a contest to win a 1 night pre-innaugural sailing on Quantum with Kristin, most likely the christening sailing. The odd thing about the contest is that it ends in April. Not sure what's special about that date but it could lead to another clue on why the godmother was announced so early. I'm sure RCCL will be using her heavily in the marketing and lead up to Quantum.

You can check this link for the contest.
The commercial is now available on YouTube.

Guess that they are laying the groundwork to start the PR on the Quantum using Kristen. It's coming together. Kristen was in Wicked on Broadway. That will be the Broadway show on the Quantum and she will be home ported year round out of Bayonne. It's obvious that RCI is timing this just as NCL gets ready to bring the Breakaway to New York.

Royal Caribbean has posted a blog entry explaining the early godmother announcement. It's all part of a new "20 months of wow" campaign to promote Quantum of the Seas. Sounds like she will be a part of every announcement, hopefully meaning less of Ken Rush this time around.

Not confirmed by Royal Caribbean yet but all the evidence on the table at this point seems good enough to confirm it:

  • Bayonne is far over due for a new ship.
  • Explorer of the Seas enters dry dock at the same time as Quantum of the Seas starts sailing.
  • Starting in December 2014 the St. Maarten port schedule shows "Quantum of the Seas" listed in a pattern where "Explorer of the Seas" has been historically, at the same time Explorer goes missing.

  • Good to know! Is Explorer gonna stick around in Bayonne? Or do you guys think she's gettin the boot?

It's unusual to know exactly what the Godmother looks like before we know exactly what the ship looks like!

20 months of wow - sounds like a nightmare!
