I think that was Deb that made the initial observation.
However, going back to the February 3rd time-lapse at around the 50-52 second mark...

...you will see that the aft panel of the sliding roof over the amidships pool does appear to fall off into the water and there are no boats or personnel apparently around. It does appear to be a rough, windy day (white caps) and maybe the panel was initially knocked loose after she rolled due to the angle of the ship and the weight of the panel, then was jarred loose over the following weeks (weather related) after the accident and eventually fell off?
It was noted on another site in the days before the panel falling off that the ship had moved and been shaken slightly by the seas and wind:
"The instruments have detected acceleration of the movement of the bow of the ship Concordia, the order of up to 1.5 cm 7.5 cm per hour for a total of over seven hours. "These accelerations - specifies the Civil Defence - already registered on previous occasions, especially in conjunction phases of descent of the tide and also affected by weather conditions in place at the time and have returned values totaled about 2 mm per hour ".
The Technical and Scientific Committee, adds Civil Defence, has established "to better understand the dynamics of these movements, to implement tracking the visual parts of the ship in contact with the seabed, as soon as sea conditions allow the installation of devices ". Movement may also caused by strong winds and rough seas of the north-east today has shaken the island of Giglio. "

Not good. Last Salute guys just posted this on FB:
"After some hard days on Isola del Giglio we have to decide to stop the camera at once. Reasons are the termination of the consent to place the camera on the last location. We tried everything to change the camera to another position and we had an agreement for a new position. After a 1500 Km. trip to Italy we found out the new position wasn't good enough and made agreements were not fulfilled. It was a very difficult decision but we put the plug out of the camera. We will try to get more done but at this moment there is no longer a live feed. With our apology to you all on behalf of The Last Salute crew."
The footage they have shot to date really won't amount to anything unique or special other than the ship just sitting there for the last couple of months.
A missed opportunity indeed.

They're trying to restart the project by renting an apartment to place the camera. In the process of trying to find funding right now.

I wish them the best, will donate a few bucks to the cause since I'm so fascinated by the entire salvage operation.
Last salute posted a few pics (windows covered, rock removed, stairs installed, etc) on their FB but that's about all that I found. There has got to be more people interested in this enormous task than just us, right?

No problem, I'll post any updates from the Last Salute guys here.
Giglio island Mayor Sergio Ortelli told reporters Monday that the timetable for removal of the liner, now lying on its side off the island's port, has been pushed back.
The Italian government office overseeing removal said in a statement that the Concordia should be set upright and able to float again by the end of spring 2013, ahead of Giglio's next tourist season.
Salvage experts in May had predicted towing could start in early 2013.
