ugly, ugly, the blue hull should stop one deck lower, that would look a hell of a lot better than this.

Having seen her in person (from distance, but not from afar) no later than less than a hour ago, with her blue painted funnel (actually already blue last saturday when I had previously saw her), I must say she's quite nice and I personnaly think this ship has never looked better than with this livery.

So I would certainly not call her "ugly ugly" at all, although I tend to agree, but for the bow only, the blue paint stopping a bit lower would have been nicer.

Of course all of that is subjective and every one has his/her own tastes. But all in all, I repeat I think this ship has never looked better as af as exteriors are concerned.

(EDIT: the white letters "Croisières de France" are now painted on the aft sides of the blue hull).

Looking at the funnel pic up close I never realized that the X of Celebrity was actually built into the funnel. I gues that is why both Horizon and Zenith still have the X hidden under their current funnel livery. If you look close in the attached pics on that site you will still see it. I always thought the X was attached onto the funnel but it was built into it. Interesting.

She looks nice but I agree that the white paint should have gone down one more deck-a bit to much blue. The Saga Sapphire looks far better w/the white paint lower and I think this ship would as well.

She looks rather awkward to me.

This ship was very much designed to be painted in her original livery.

She does look a bit 'awkward' - but was wondering if in the photos, especially that above, she had been purposely listed for the lower hull painting, making her look dumpy from this side?

The X is part of the structure nycruiser.. here's an old photo of mine as ISLAND STAR.

I rather like it, somehow..
it gives a sense of purpose..
but one phot is not really enough to judge.

I hand't realised that after the loss of "Blue de France" CDF is going further, with "Horizon".

The French adventure seems to be succesful at least (and perhaps crisis struck Spain (25%jobless...) cannot bear all these cruiseships anymore?

This shot of her's funnel also show how the "X" is part of the structure.

Agree. Plus the red funnel on the blue hull does not help. But it is mostly the superstructure looks too small with the blue so high.

Vaccaro, I will give you this: she will look better than she did with Pullmantur or Island cruises. But it is not an improvement on her original looks (I've always been a fan of HORIZON/ZENITH as built).

Andrew, like I had mentionned in my previous post, the funnel had already been painted dark blue when I saw the ship.. The above photo was already outdated. So it won't be red .

I think we will have to agree to disagree there. Actually, I've always thought these 2 sisters were too blocky and too cubic when built (but not ugly or discracious at all either, far from it) so I thing the frank separation between the entire hull and the superstructure helps in breaking that blocky look.
Where I agree with you is that that blue color would have been better to start a bit lower, before all at the bow to preserve a thin white height there(so along the whole lenght of the ship by effect, or the separation line would have to be discontinued to keep it globally horizontal along the whole lenght of the ship).
That said, like I've mentionned, it's what I personnaly think anyway and I respect your different tastes or opinion on that matter.

I also think that the blue should be lowered a tiny bit.

I thought the same but changed my mind when I saw the 'all white' Zenith. She was a very impressive sight especially giving the fact that she passes as small vessel these days! The photos I saw of her in her new livery mislead me quite a bit.

I would think dropping the blue of the hull paint one deck would do wonders for Horizon, just like it did for Saga Sapphire, and as it would for the Mein Schiffs

Remembering that when Horizon sailed for Celebrity, the blue ribbon was at the place where now the blue ends. Her design is different, made for these colours, I think that in any other ship, the blue could be better a deck low, but this case in particular don't.

Anyone has new photos of her?

Is it me or doesn't this anti-sheer livery give the optical illusion that she is capsizing - not good in these post Concordia days!

It IS you!

That is before all and mostly the wide angle and the low point of view that "give" that illusion, although I don't really feel that illusion myself, but I know what you mean.

Well, after seeing the final result, I confirm my above personnal opinion: Although it could have been a bit better, this ship has never looked better than with this livery.

As for the plant pots on the above photo, I think it's hard to believe they have not used welded metallic strapes instead of ropes... that gives a sort of cheap makeshift job look.
(Actually, I wouldn't have put plants at all, it has nothing to do on the exterior of a ship, but I know that's currently in the "mood").

In this you can see better the new hull color. And sinceraly, seeing this pics, I changed my mind. She's not very well like this.
