It appears, even before Celebrity releases their 2012/2013 schedule next month, word has leaked out that the Celebrity CENTURY will be joined by Celebrity MILLENIUM.

I guess this leaves no short-market ships for them out of Miami?

She is also booked for a visit to Hong King in Dec 2012 so maybe she will also be doing some Asian voyages.

If she is indeed going to Australia for what ever reason or length of time, it impossible that in conjuction with any type of 'Down Under' cruises that she could also be doing a 'circle the Pacific' type of cruise like Holland-America or Crystal?

The growth in the Australian cruise market is great news for us down here but I wonder how some of the cruiselines are going to market these cruises. Traditionally P&O and Princess have attracted significant Australian pax whilst lines such as HAL and Celebrity have relied on US pax who are prepared to fly 14 hours to Sydney.

Now that the AUD is back at parity with USD I imagine Australia is no longer seen as a low cost destination so am thinking that Celebrity, HAL, RCCI etc believe they can competitively target the Australian pax market.

I hope they are successful as our prices are very expensive compared with what US pax pay but I also hope they if they are after the Australian pax they are serious aboutit and adopt practices such as AUD onboard pricing!

Celebrity Millennium to cruise in Australia and Asia in 2012

Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines has just announced the 2012 deployment of Celebrity Millennium, which will operate a series of Asian itineraries, visiting Australia on her way to Singapore during the previously announced down under deployment of Celebrity Solstice.

The 2158-passenger Millennium, which has previously spent several seasons cruising in Australia, will offer repositioning cruises from Hawaii to Sydney and from Sydney to Singapore, with the vessel fresh from an "extensive refurbishment" scheduled for April 2012 which will see the addition of 107 new AquaClass staterooms.

The Hawaii-Sydney sector will coincide with the November 2012 solar eclipse, while the vessel's newly announced Asian season includes eight 14-night cruises from Singapore and Hong Kong, with ports of call including Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh City and Halong Bay.

Millennium's new 2012/13 Asia itineraries will open for sale on Saturday 09 April.

The LONG flights to OZ is the only thing negative about cruising there. I wish we had a transporter(Star Trek)to wisk you away to Sydney.
Yes, it is pricey there too. NZ is a nice place to visit so be sure to have your cruise visit it's ports.
Merino wool and possum clothing are something to buy when in NZ. Very good stuff.

Its good Australia is getting the attention it deserves particularly with all these spectacular new ships. Celebrity Solstice, Millennium still reasonably new.

Its good to see Newcastle get a visit. Not much to see in the city itself, but we are the gateway to the Hunter Valley Vineyards which are a popular tourist attraction.

Its unlikely I will have time for any of these ones as I have already booked Celebrity Solstice for March 2013.
