quote:Originally posted by dmwnc1:THANKS Ernie. It breaks my heart to see her being gutted especially since I was just on her in December and it's still all so fresh in my head, but after seeing the finished transformation of what they did to the Celebrity GALAXY I am sure the interiors of Mein Schiff 2 will be equally amazing. I agree about the hull art, I think it's ridiculous looking. I will miss her very much. She was a superb ship in the Celebrity Cruises fleet.
I agree these are fine ships and I'm also sad to see them go, but at least we still have CENTURY and I actually think she is the best of the three. Also, it's nice that GALAXY and MERCURY have found a good home and are receiving lots of TLC. These refurbishment's should make them viable ships for many years to come.
In the meantime give the M-Class ships a try. I just booked the MILLENNIUM on a short 5-day cruise from Miami in December. It's rare these ships have done short cruises in the past, so this is somewhat of a treat. I really like the M-Class ships, and by today's standard they would certainly be classified as a medium sized cruise ships, and quite spacious ones at that!

Was just reading elsewhere that the Celebrity CONSTELLATION is replacing the Celebrity MILLENNIUM in the 2012/2013 Winter short market cruises out of Miami. Apparently the 'Connie' loyalist aren't too please with Celebrity Cruises decision.

Well for me this is great news. I'll look forward to a short getaway on the "Solsticized" CONNIE, even if it is a long way away!

All of the other boards members are tying up Celebrity Cruises phone lines in a mini-revolt. Seriously? Just get over it and pick another favorite. Thats what I'm trying to do. Sure its sad to see her downgraded to short-market cruises, but like I told them at least the 'Connie' is still with us and not transferred to TUI or permanently based out of Brazil or Dubai doing 7-night cruises.
