Genesis is gonna have meny new types of cabins.
One of them is a cabin with balcony facing to central park/Board Walk, they are naturally different.
"Board Walk" you maybe asking... it's a third one, a kind of royal promenade walking space/area placing aft of the ship.

Hire some more block pics:

AKer builder,

Thanks for the updated information and pictures. Can you provide any more details about "Central Park"?

Is it an outdoor space? Where will it be located and what purpose will it server for passengers?

Thanks Aker Builder. Now we know a little more. The blocks on the second picture have those large openings. Are those balconies with round edges?

Central Park and Board Walk are bouth similar spaces like royal prom. on voyager/freedom class ships.
Differance seems to be that bouth of them having a natural light source on the top, is it open or si there a glass sealing, hard to say yet.
Royal prom again is different on genesis, its more open on the sides of the ship, different shape, not corridor like.
Royal promenade is located on deck 5 mid ship, Central Park is on deck 8 right above Royal Prom. and Board Wali is on deck 6 aft.

Looking at the pixs,it looks more like an apartment complex than a ship. That must be a huge dry dock.
Please keep the pictures coming. Interesting to see this behemoth being built.

It is very difficult to tell from that angle if those are verandah cabins. I doubt it as the openings (whatever they are) are similar to a QM2 'hull hole' verandah and small for a RCI ship. Also the width of the second section does not look wide enough for such a large ship.

Just a guess - but maybe the second picture is of a port and starboard component of a "Royal Promenade section" as it might make sense given that it would appear that there are windows on both sides of each piece. Therefore each piece might house Ocean View Cabins, a corridor, and then Inside Cabins w/ a view. With each affixed to the side of the ship - there might be enough room inbetween to create the interior height of the Royal Promenade.

Any thoughts?

Jekyll that's what I was thinking too, that they are sections on the sides of the Promenade, but I doubt they are large windows but rather balconies to each side in their early construction stages, the rendering shows balconies with round edges. From what Aker Builder said I guess those are the sections to the sides of "Board Walk" were there will be balconies overlooking the interior space.

On the corner of the block is "K" and arrow meaning: Fore of the ship and direction,
then numbers L-363 meaning: Newbuilding 1363,
then numbers 489P meaning: block number 489 port side (Royal Prom.)
iJekyll is absolutely right, it is sectoins of royal prom bouth sides, and then i think it's gonna be wide enough.
Balconies are coming to Board Walk and Central Park, Royal Preom stays without balconies.

Aker builder, if the yard is building Genesis, there must be drawings, artists impressions and maybe a model of the finished ship.

It is your duty to break in and get copies of this documentation for us and post it here.

I think his job will be at stake if he does that . From what he has said I would think he doesn't know much either, they might just go section by section and revealing plans to them.

Ha haa......

Block building starts from upside down, it's easyer to fit pipelines, cabeltrays, air conditioning elements, different kind of supports and so on.
Next the block being turn ower in to normal position.
In next step several small blocks being added no top eachother (3-5 decks) and we have "bigblock", next is painting and after adding windows, balconies, cabins ....
And now we have a keel laying ceremoni!

Thank you for reading my short lesson about shipbuilding

Looking at the photo on Akers site of the new Genesis, it does not show a lower outside promenade deck. Do you know if the ship will have this?

Dear Aker Builder,
Thanks so much for the pictures and information. You have given us more insider information regarding GENESIS then I think can be found anywhere. It's very much appreciated.

You may not be able to answer these questions, but if you can that would be great. If not, I completely understand.

1. Average cabin size (in sq ft) for a standard balcony cabin on GENESIS?

2. Lifeboat arrangement and how many lifeboats will there be?

3. There are several round cylinders that can be seen in the GENESIS renderings on the top deck forward of the midship pool area. Care to elaborate on what they are?

Thanks again!

Ernie

I'm sorry my english isn't that good, so i'm not really shure what do you mean Atlcruiser?

What comes to Ernie's questions,
1) don't know
2) Arrangment is still quite fuzzy to me but seems like lifeboats will be atleast 34 +(maybe 16) if i got it right, but i might be wrong.
3)At this point i have to say the look some design pieces to fit the areas general theme, but once again i might be wrong!

On the Voyager and Freedom class ships, they have an outside deck where we board the lifeboats. On the photo of the Genesis class ship they do not show this outside deck.

Ernie, not sure how accurate the Captain was but on the Jewel last year the question about the life boats was asked and we were told that the boats would hold over 300 passengers. Less life boats but larger.

Embarkation deck, yes, deck 5.
This is really funny that on freedom ships embarkation deck named promenade deck and royal promenade is located on different deck!

Dear Aker Builder,
It might be helpful if you know what rendering we are looking at so I have attached it. This is the rendering that has generated most of our questions, and it's pretty much the only rendering that Royal Caribbean has released.

On the rendering, it appears there are only 9 very large lifeboats on either side of the ship. We thought perhaps that regulations may have changed and lifeboats could carry more people. That is why I asked about how many lifeboats there would be.

Also, in the rendering it appears that there is no traditional outdoor Promenade Deck. The lifeboats appear to just extend out from the side of the ship with nothing but the ship behind them and no deck.

Lastly, you can see those round cylinders, midship on the top deck I was talking about. Perhaps they are skylights for the Royal Promenade or Central Park below?

Sorry for all the questions. I think GENESIS is such a fascinating ship and there are so many unknowns about her.

All the best,
Ernie

I just came back from a tour onboard Liberty of the Seas, great ship, I noticed some differences for the better from Freedom of the Seas, I expect to sail on her next summer. Well, the tour was sponsored by the American Institute of Architects and Royal Caribbean. Our tour guide was a Senior Architect form RCI and I was able to ask him some things about Genesis. I didn't mention anything about th info. Aker Builder has provided us in order not to jeopardize his job, but I found him refering to the Royal Promenade as "Central Park", he also said that Genesis will have features that will again be very, very innovative, but couldn't say anymore due to the reasons we already know.
