Our old friend Bruce Nierenberg has resurfaced, with plans for a ferry service between South Florida and Havana. This would supplement the current air flights operating daily, which cannot accommodate the demand from Cuban-Americans to travel there. Sorry, non-Cuban Americans, we still cannot travel there without breaking laws and getting into trouble!

It's possible that he could pull that off. In the 1980's my husband had always said that if Cuba had ever opened up for cruises Dolphin Cruise Line would be the one to start first, Dolphin isn't around sad to say. I'm sure the reason why he said that; was because they'd be the first to jump on it. I think a ferry service there would be perfect, maybe; one day Cuba will be open for all.

A trip to Cuba today would be like going back to the 50s. Old cars etc.
If and when it will open?, it will be years before it will become a major tourist attraction.IMO
Maybe we need an uprising aka the Middle East.

Perhaps for Americans, but not for the rest of the world, as it already is a very major tourist destination. In the year 2010, our Canadian government reports that 950,000 Canadians took their winter vacations in the Cuban sun, and they were joining a greater number coming from European countries, as well as hundreds of thousands from Mexico. By almost all accounts, vacationers are extemely pleased with the holiday, and many return year after year. So Cuba is already a major tourist destination andperhaps soon Americans will be able to join the rest of the world in vacationing in there.

I have to agree, I know lots of people who go to Cuba, a friend of mine is a small tour operator and he has about 3 to 5 groups of 15-20 people a year going there, it's on my "to do list" too. Maybe us Europeans do have an advantage in the travel sector over Americans ??
For us the only country we can't visit is North Korea but the rest of the world is open terrain for us as far as I know.
