The Inter Island Ferry service between the North and South Islands of NZ has been struck by yet another ferry with propeller problems. The Aratere lost her propeller in Cook Strait and is now in Singapore undergoing repairs. Her replacement, sent out from Europe, Stella Alegra, has now been taken out of action as she has lost part of her propeller.

It must be the dreaded curse of Cook Strait.

Then there was this, but I'm not really sure what's happening. originally banded about the net as 2 ferries; one clearly isn't.

The caption says:-

Unless one knows the area of operation and normal routes one can't really tell and the Princess vessel referred to isn't even visible. There is a comment on this page [which still refers to 2 Interislander ferries

] from a chap who used to be a chief officer on the ferries. Nothing out of the ordinary it appears.

Update on the InterIsland ferry Aratere. She has completed repairs to the propeller in Singapore and has had her 2 yearly overhaul . She is now on her way back home to NZ. Unfortunately she is limping along at only 10 knots as an engine has "broken down"
Will this ferry ever have any good luck?
