Found this rendering online. It is a possibility it is the RCI's Sunshine class. What does everyone think?

Yes, the blogger has already removed the image, so chances are it was real!

As could be expected perhaps, it looks like a shrunken Oasis-class.

I'm with you Joe, another floating mistake in design...I really prefer the other designs of the past over the apartment looking, or condo looking cruise ships of today. MHO.

While I don't have much problems with the "floating condo" look with 7+ decks of balconies, that profile (the stern in particular, the rest just looks like any other new ship today) is all sorts of terrible.

Not good.

I'm not so sure how new it is. It seems like it is mainly elements from the Solstice and Oasis class combined. If it was the original picture and not a picture of a picture dated months ago I would have guessed it was a fan made ship.

New-builds are moving towards a less sleek exterior with little impact on aerodynamics, lower operating costs and increased revenue, in this case form follows function. There is little to tell from a candid photograph of a conceptual rendering. I'm sure Royal Caribbean will surprise.

I believe the rendering is legit, and it reveals some interesting design evolution for Royal Caribbean.

1. It appears Sunshine will have some kind of Oasis-like boardwalk at the aft of the ship. That is the only way to explain the superstructure ending before the aft of the hull. How open and wide will this space be given Sunshine's smaller size? We don't know yet.

2. Where is the Viking Crown? There does not appear to be a lounge connected to the funnel base. It may be far aft of the funnel with a view over the boardwalk.

3. The 2-deck high glass area at the aft of the hull...a spectacular public space? Restaurant? Doubtful...I'm guessing these are the loft cabins introduced on Oasis but positioned much lower on the ship.

4. The forward superstructure and bow look very much like Royal Princess and Nor. Breakaway. The upright/short prow appears to be becoming an industry norm as designers try to cram as many cabins as possible onto each hull.

I'd be surprised if this isn't the Sunshine project. It looks different from the outside than my minds eye had anticipated. I thought there would be more large glass windows to the interior of the ship like the Radiance class. A 3 story glass window letting light into the royal promenade with exterior elevators was what I had envisioned. Not so in this rendering.

My guess is a mini Oasis in someway. The question is how they can do this with the limited width Meyerwerft can build. I'm not sure the shipyard could go any wider than the Voyager/Freedom class of ships. There are some things about this rendering that remind you of the Solstice class in a way.
