Can anyone tell me which ship this is?

It is part of a new operation that will sail out of Port Canaveral as Ocean Club Cruises.

According to their web site...

quote:
Ocean Club Cruises will operate premium 2 & 3-night cruises from Port Canaveral and will package hotels and attractions and other vacation components from the Space Coast and Orlando area. “We look forward to developing new and exciting cruise & land vacation options with many of the central Florida attractions and hotel community,” Hentz said. The Cruise Company expects many of its cruise passengers will select a pre/post beach or Orlando stay.

It is the AZUR, i made 4 Cruises on her in 1992,
1993 (2) and 1995.

The first 3 are under CHANDRIS, the last was under FESTIVAL.

The Ship is now rated 2 Stars and a plus and is in the Med. for Festival.

It is their most unattractive Ship.

She entered Service as EAGLE, in 1971.

Other Names: Aegean, Azur, the Azur.

I forgot to tell, that she started her Life as an FERRY (roll on-roll off System).

Former Ferrys are NEVER the best Cruiseships,
they are built for fast and cheap Transport, and their Cabins are relatively LITTLE.

O.K.: for an 3 Day Cruise an little Cabin is no Problem, for long-term Cruises the Ship is not good. They are a little bit Spartan, no Safe, no TV, very little Showerroom (of course, the smaller Cabins have only 8,8 Squaremeters including Closet and Shower).

For some reason I am thinking it might be the former Finnstar (or Pearl of Scandinavia) - it looks too streamlined to be the Azur which I always felt was top heavy...

It looks similar to the Azur but I don't think it is since the Azur is still showing itineries on First European"s web site. I'll go with Jeff's guess of "Mirage" for 2003.

I am totally confused. Mirage? Apart from Joe's file name of oc-mirage, not sure where the name comes from.
The picture appears to me to be a bit of photoshopping with slight upper changes on the Azur photo in the 'ships review section'?
Ocean Club Cruises are calling their ship Magic I according to the press releases, and is the Bolero [sis of Azur]. The super structure is slightly different and varies to the above photo, the photo on the faktaomfartyg site does not make Magic I look anywhere near as nice as the above photo.

They are calling her Mirage on the Ocean Club Cruises web site..

I knew I had seen her before but couldn't remember which ship she was. Thanks for the link to the previous thread.

The picture does look like a photoshop update of the Azur.

Wonder if Disney objected to Magic?
Pam
[If I had read the press release properly I would have seen it said the curretn mv Magic I, to be renamed on arrival in the US!]

The Viking Seranade that used to be with RCCL (now Island Escape) turned out pretty well.

Also on their website it said "...with oversized staterooms, a full Vegas style casino, flex dining with gourmet cuisine and much much more, we promise you will have a grand experience, and that's just on board! So join the Club today and see what it's like to Cruise the Ocean Club way..." Here is a deck plan on the ship and wondering how they could fit 850 passengers?

This has to be someone's fantasy. The site says they've been operating in the Med for 3 years, that's not true. And that logo is a modification of the last Premier Cruises logo. That ship is definitely the Azur.

I think that it's not the Azur but this sister-ship Massalia.

The Massalia was operate by Paquet and after she became a ferry, Scandinavian Star if my memory is good. The ferry was rebuilt after a big fire.

After, i don't no what happed the ship.

My husband and I sailed on 2 ferries, converted to cruise
ships and we loved it. They were: SCANDINAVIAN SUN (formerly CARIBE) and the CROWN DEL MAR. Both excellent cruises and far more personal than the big floating things out there now. We welcome them to the
port, already requested a brochure. And can't wait to go, we are impressed with her.

If these two ships were sisters, how can this ship look exactly like The Azur?

Here is a picture of the fire.

I just received the February 2003 issue of Cruise Travel magazine. In the magazine there is a cruise ship guide. According to the guide the Magic 1 has also sailed under the names
Bolero,Scandinavica, Jupiter, Crucero Express, and Seminole Empress. The name Bolero sounded familiar and I thought it might be one of NCL's former ships. According the Berlitz cruise book I have the Bolero was NCL's Starward.

This little ship was NEVER the AZUR, but she WAS the BOLERO - of Fred. Olsen Lines, NOT Festival. Festivals' BOLERO was NCL's STARWARD (EVERYBODY knows THAT). As for MAGIC operating in the Mediterranean for the past three years...she DID indeed...under the operation of an Israeli company, which I THINK was calling itself MAGIC CRUISE LINE of Israel, catering to Hebrew speaking, Israeli passengers (not sure if her kitchens were Kosher, but it wouldn't surprise me). With the current political situation in the Eastern Mediterranean, it looks no longer likely that Magic nor MANO CRUISES, another Israeli charterer (had the SILVER STAR, ex BASHKIRIA) will remain active.
