Horse Race Aboard Carousel |

Sometimes, unlikely things happen in unlikely places, such as horse-racing out at sea. It sound's crazy, but it can be done.
When I heard it announced that there was to be a horse-race I was puzzled. I thought "A horse-race? On a ship? How will they do that?
Here is how.
Six card cut-outs of horses are mounted on sticks each with a block at the bottom so they can stand up. They have a track with markings on it. There are three dice to determine how many paces on the track the horses move.
Here are their names:
No1 is is a Chinese horse called 'Ahh so'. But be careful how you say that, if you say it too fast it may sound rude.
No 2 is a Scottish horse called 'Highland Fling'
No 3 is the Englich Horse called 'Camilla'.
No 4 comes from Ireland and is called 'Danny Boy'
No 5 is all the way from Sweden and is called 'Dancing Queen'
And finally for horse No 6, You All have to shout 'Hey!' as soon as you hear this horse's name, 'What's The Matter You....' HEY!!
There are the horses and now it's time to play.
Punters make their bets and when the race begins the three dice on the cage are shaken. If the dice show 2, 5, and 3. Horses numbered 2, 5, and 3 each move forward one pace on the track. If the dice show 4, 4 and 1, No 1 horse moves one pace and No 4 moves two paces. If all three dice show the same number (for example 6) only that one horse moves farward three paces and so this continues until a horse has crossed the finishing line to end the race. Then those who have won their bets go to pick up their winnings. |
