Does anyone have a recommendation for an efficient and reliable private transfer service from the Piraeus Port to the Athens Airport?

Our ship docks at 6am and we have an 11:20am flight. It's a small ship so I don't expect disembarkation to take too long.

I would like to arrange for the private car service to be waiting for us at the port around 7-7:30am and take us directly to the airport.

Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Ernie

I only ever take the X96 bus, port to airport for < €6, about an hour & 1/4 and runs every 30 mins at least, more frequently in the mornings. A great service in good coaches. But you will probably need to walk [or port bus] depending on where you berth to one of the stops, but only a 15 minute walk max I expect anyway. You have the time, not sure a taxi/car would be much faster. The taxis have set rates.

Thanks for the info Pam. My major concern is time which is why I thought having a car service waiting would be ideal. Azamara says the ship docks at 6am. I assume I would be off by 7am but you never know? My flight is at 11:20am so it's a bit tight. I know the airport is a good hour away without traffic. I'm going to look into your suggestion.

Forget the flight and hang around in Piraeus, an interesting day for cruise ships.

I wish I could Pam, and you're right, what a great variety of ships. Not too common for the modern cruise industry.

Considering I'm flying standby, who knows, perhaps I will be spending the night in Athens?? ;-)

Do SAs even get on these days?? One of the last times I did an International flight standby was in Milan to DC on United. The Delta flight to ATL was leaving at the next gate and it was 1/2 full for some reason and all the SAs got on. When they started to clear the list over at UA I think 4 of were able to board. It was nerve racking!

Of course they do. Sometimes even in Business Class like I did returning from Amsterdam in July. As an employee I am basically the highest priority and can even upgrade my priority if I want to use a vacation priority pass. My companion travels at the same standby priority I do. I can also book an open jumpseat as another option, but of course my partner can't do that. So many people that work in the airline industry commute, and if they couldn't get on flights basically the operation would come to a stand still. One thing that has changed (at least Domestically) is getting first class. It's much harder because of all the comp upgrades for frequent fliers. International is a different story as there are no comp upgrades.

It's been a while since I actually paid for an airline ticket, and I plan to keep it that way. With a little planning ahead of time and some creativity, I've always gotten to where I need to go usually no worse for wear. It's always easier for me to travel alone because of the jumpseat option. It guarantees I will get on just about any flight.

Of course it's a different story for those traveling on the lowest priority buddy passes. They can be stuck for days and sometimes just have to buy a ticket. I don't give out many buddy passes, but when I do I'm very explicit about the rules and the best times to travel. I usually end up playing "travel agent" which I hate, looking up loads for various flights making sure I get my buddy pass rider where they need to go.
