It appear that the liners would have been build at the Dutch ship yard Verolme Rotterdam. The article say that the ship could accommodate 8.000 passengers and 2.000 crew. The ships would have Dutch registry. They say Amsterdam would have the Dutch port but seen the size of the ships Rotterdam as David noted would have be the Dutch port. Also mentioned are Lisbon and Venice. The Hague was chosen fore the new lines head quarters and New York fore the USA office.
The intended speed was 35 knots.Accommodation would have seen a theater sitting 1200, dining rooms fore 4000 in 1 sitting, movie theater sitting 800 several bars, nightclubs, lounges.Fares started at $ 175 pp
Cost per ship $ 128 million.
I bet Holland America and others would have be very happy this plan was dropped.
Greetings Ben.

"Damned by Destiny", which is about liners which never came to life, was published in 1982. You'd have to search the Internet to find a copy--every now and then one comes up on various book sites, but it can be very expensive. An excellent book on "alternative shipping history", however.
