Tomorrow early in the morning we leave for Southampton to see QE2 leave for the very last time.

I've already prepared a page where I will put my pictures.

Look forward to seeing them, Aad. I did think about the OLS trip but thought it would be sold out so didn't bother. Got a Red Funnel one anyway for less which goes further out with her.

I'll be up early to see her arrive. I can't believe it's now 6.15am. With this weather, McNaught has the perfect excuse to delay her arrival by slowing down, thinking of the safety of the pax! I cannot believe the man who criticises his own bosses for their stupid planning can't even do this one thing.

By the way, she arrives in Dubai at 5pm on the 26th but no one disembarks until the 27th.

BBC Interviews which features my friend Stevie who I met through my crew member. Stevie's very funny and so deadpan. He really does love the ship. I could talk to him for hours.

Have a very memorable day Aad! Look forward to your pictures.

The song on your webpage makes me very melancholic. They played this on the open decks of Queen Mary 2 when QE2 left New York for the last time and sailed passed us.

I can't believe it's almost here and she's south of the Isle of Wight for her final homecoming. I've had trouble sleeping so will be a zombie by the time I get back tonight. After nearly 40 years I'll never see her from my window again. I'll never hear her whistle so I know she's on the way and look out for her. Another piece of my childhood is going.

It's finally here. The closing of a 4 decade career and a goodbye to a legendary ship( I know I'm being a little dramatic!!). Being from Scotland, I have always had pride that she was built on the Clyde (that and the great history of the cunarders built there before her). My wish is that I could have sailed on her at least once (had decades to do that, didn't I!!). She may be passing into history with end of her active days on the ocean but the memories so many made sailing on her will live on!!

QV's was stuck earlier today too but is now restored. Perhaps QE2's is off for the remainder of her time with Cunard?
