She will sail again [well no, will be towed by 5 tugs] 5m down the Hudson to Bayonne for 2 yrs of restoration. One can purchase a trip on eBay.

For a new report regarding her refit, see the IHT.

Wow, that is one expensive cruise fare! I hope the winner gets a nice suite with balconly?

A two year refit? I bet NCL have secretly purchased her and are adding her to the NCL America fleet.

Wow, and I though the private jet package for Cunard was expensive. Well, sounds like who ever can afford it is going to have a great time though!
Does anyone know if only the Intrepid part of the museum will be closed, and the Concorde will still be open?

Ive been to the Intrepid Air and Space museum, even though we were only allowed an hour there, it was amazing, great collections, including the legendary Concorde, propeller from the SSUS, much more!

Not sure what you mean by the first part of that question, but as for the second part the article mentioned above indicates this about the Concorde...

Another iconic aircraft, Alpha Delta, the record-setting supersonic Concorde airliner that became part of the Intrepid museum in 2004, has been displayed on a barge alongside Intrepid. It will be temporarily relocated to a public site in New York City, although arrangements are still being negotiated, said White and Alan Proud, a British Airways spokesman

I'm sure the other Concorde have not been scrapped. One of them(I believe it's an Air France one) is on display at the Smithsoian museum at the Dulles airport. It was just taxied over to the new hanger after it's last flight. It's really some place to visit!!!!

They are mostly on display. Go to this site and through the fleet section you will find where each one currently is. There are 3 on display in the US. Seattle, Dulles, and NYC. There's another in Barbados, 3 in England [one yet to be 'displayed'], one each in Scotland & Germany, and 2 in France. Of the remaining 2 operational aircraft, one was scrapped years ago and the other was in the sad accident.

The latest news page is here. It is interesting to note that G-BOAD alongside Intrepid has been responsible for increasing visitor numbers by 100,000 per year.

100,000 dallars seem way to expensive for a short voyage down the Hudson!

Pam what ship is that in the fore ground?

Yes, because it is British technology (with a bit of French) at it's best.

The correct spelling is Maxim Gorkiy. Pam has some great pics of her in NYC in the photo section. This former German Atlantic Line liner was featured in the 1974 disaster film 'Juggernaut' and avoided an actual disaster when she struck (and nearly sank) an iceberg during a cruise in the late 1980s. She may be scrapped in 2010 when the new SOLAS regs come on line.

It looks like no one is going to pay $100,000 (e-bay) for a ride on Intrepid, unless there is a late bid.

Maybe there are a few too many zero's on the price?

Yep, managed to move it 15 feet & is currently stuck in the mud. There was a post saying they were going to send some divers down once things settle & see what's up.

Why they didn't dig around it to begin with sitting that long in time is beyond me.

If your car is stuck in the snow - are you going to dig 20 feet in front of your car to move it? Or are you going to dig around the tires? They dredged the river area to move it, they just didn't do anything about the mud surrounding the ship.

On our flight back home on Saturday(British Air) I saw a parked Concorde at Heathrow. It was with other BA aircraft on the ramp. I wonder how many Concordes are still capable of flight? Or how many still exist.

I believe this carrier was docked in New York as a museum as we saw it when on the Golden Princess 4 years ago.
This carrier is the same class as the Yorktown CVS 10 ,which is a museum in Charleston,SC.
And to think they want all that $$$$$. Heck, I spent 7 months on the Yorktown (WESTPACcruise) way back when!!! And the Navy paid me!!!
