Those types of swells can make being onboard quite unpleasant. A long swell can increase the chance of seasickness for many people (me included) while a good 'chop' is more thrilling!
Were there not some fake images of a Carnival ship in a hurricane going around last year?
Anyway, the 20ft swells we encountered on QM2 last summer suddenly seem less worth boasting about. I'm quite certain the windows down on the 3L promenade never went under water.

The QE2 pics are fairly high resolution (3488 x 2616 pixels) taken with a Fuji FinePix s9600 camera. The two pics were taken less than a minute apart.
OTOH, the QV photo is low resolution (640 x 480 oixels) taken with a Pentax Optio S5z camera. Assuming that the clocks in both cameras were set correctly, the QV pic was taken a little over 3 1/2 hours later.
