I was actually wondering the same. Your above image reminded me...A couple years back NCL placed an order/LOI for a ship with a very similar design but was subsequently cancelled:

This ship was to be 89,000 Gross tons... Slightly smaller than the Jewel-Class.

Thanks for recalling my memory. I completely forgot about that particular NCL ship. I believe that cancelled order resulted in the Norwegian Epic, correct?

Nope. I think she got cancelled because NCL got taken over by Star and then Star transferred their own newbuilds under construction at Meyer to NCL.

Ralph, the newbuild(s) that Brian posted about were actually LOI'd with Aker Finland in 2003 or 2004. NCL opted to extend the number of units in the Dawn/Jewel class in lieu of these as Meyer and the German gov't could and would guarantee the export credit financing.
