Mitsubishi Heavy Industries(Japan) is expected to order a pair of cruise ship . The orders two vessels in total about 100 billion yen.
Orders which are not clearly seen in European or American cruise company

100 Billion Yen = 1.2 Billion US Dollars for 2 ships. By comparison, the 71,000gt AIDAsol is costing $557m from a German yard, roughly half that, so accounting for the reportedly cheaper prices in Asia, it would appear the two ships will be larger than the AIDA ship. Interesting.

Buddy, $1.2 billion for 2 ships means $600 million per ship...which is very close to the $557 million cost of the AIDAsol. We have no report yet on the size or owner of the new ships. But the price is very comparable to that at European yards.

According to SeaTrader Insider today, this report is wrong, and no contracts have been signed yet. This apparently accounts for the vagueness of the report.

For example,

The worker was taken to the interior of the ferry before the debut, and

According to Japanese local newspaper,
MHI said, the major European (American) cruise company, "over 100,000 tons" contained in the final stage of negotiations over the two passenger ships large orders

Aimed contract until the summer.

Princess has a few ships built in Japan(Sapphire Princess for one). Not sure of what yard built them.
I would guess CCL to be the buyer but for what line in there companies????

There are rumors that TUI Cruises in Germany wants to expand and is willing to order new ships. May be the order is from them.

As much as I doubt it - I hope that they are a pair of ships heading for P&O Cruises in the UK. They will be original designs and will not be repeated for other lines - like a new Oriana/Aurora.

I have the same dream but for Cunard, something unique like QM2 but smaller size and only one ship, not another class for several lines.

I share that dream! I don't even mind if it's a duo or trio of ships, so long as they are unique to Cunard and not used for other brands. Even better if the exteriors look like Disney ships!

I think the Disney ships (Particularly wonder/Magic) are great. I'd love to sail on them.

BUT, I think they are exactly that: a Disney view on what an old ocean liner was like.

What I like about QM is that there are elements of past liners, but the design was progressive and contemprary, yet sypathetic of the line's history - and that IMO is perfect for any new build for Cunard.

QE2 is now considered a classic and she was 'cutting edge', even controversial at launch. I just hope that QM makes it to that category, because we know that the Ugly Vistas won't make it into the hall of fame in Ocean Liner history!

Hello everybody,

AIDA Cruises has just announced that it has ordered two 125,000 gt ships of a new generation with MHI for delivery in spring 2015 and spring 2016, respectively.

Further details - other than that the ships will have 3.250 lower berths - will be announced later, according to the cruise line.

did edge out Meyer Werft, as they had
building plots available, and are still building
AIDA new builds..

hi there

well as discussed before that pricing of these newbuilds were playing a big role in this decision,
reported by Seatrade Insider the price for
these newbuilds for only € 455m a ship
with 3250 berths and 125.000 tons

i really wonder if MSC Cruises will go east as well
and break their relationship with
STX France (prev Chantiers d Atlantique)
were almost all their ships were build
then ignore fellow italian builder Fincantieri and
go to the land of the rising sun...
