MIAMI - Bookings on European itineraries for the Royal Caribbean and Celebrity cruise lines are bouncing back from deep lows touched during the war in Iraq, the president of the world's second largest cruise group said Tuesday.

``The ships are sailing full,'' Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd.

President Jack Williams said.

``Since the end of the Iraq war, we have been pretty pleased with the bookings in Europe,'' Williams said in an interview after the company's annual shareholders' meeting. ``It could be better but it could be a whole lot worse.''

Williams declined to say whether fares in Europe were higher or lower than in prior years.

But Royal Caribbean, the operator of 25 luxury ships, last week said in a government filing that it expected a key measure of revenues called net yields to be down 6 percent to 9 percent in the current quarter from last year. Net yields in the first quarter were up 3.9 percent from early 2002.
