And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; men's hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of heaven will be shaken. Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near." Really serious oncerted action is only going to happen when (a) there is a consensus that global warming is happening; (b) there is a consensus that human activity is at least one of the major contributors to it; (c) there is a consensus that we can in fact do something to alter its course; and (d) we are actually prepared to make the sacrifices necessary to do that.
But at the moment, there are parts of the world where even (a) isn't yet generally accepted. Part of the problem is the difficulty that people seem to have in identifying and focusing on long-term trends (which are the important thing) rather than short-term random fluctuations (which are not, and which can be misleading).
But a bigger part of the problem is that many people perceive the necessary action to be an attack on their ways of life, rather than seeing changes to their ways of life as necessary to save life itself.

There have been problems between the US and Canada with air polution being blown up into Canada from various sources in the US. Not sure if this has been corrected or not?
