Hi there! I was offered a position as stateroom steward with NCL on the Pride of America, in Hawaii. I have been on active hold status now since September, 3rd, 2011. Just waiting for an opening, so I can board that ship.

Does anyone in here work for NCL aboard the POA? Would love to gain some insight. Thanks

Just got off the POA. The crew all look like they enjoy their jobs...it's a lot of work, but hey you're in paradise. Go for it.

Hi there and thanks for responding. What was your position on that ship or were you a guest. I have cruised with NCL 3 times as a guest. Went to Bermuda on the Spirit, Cruised with the Dawn, than lastly to Alaska cruise with the Star. My experiences have been good

If Carnival is the "Walmart OTS"
Then NCL must be Kmart OTS"

I think I would go for RCL, Celebrity, Princees, or HAL.

Since the Pride of America is a US flagged cruise ship, are most of the crew US citizens?? As for the ship, it is not the best looking on the outside but apparently quite nice internally.

I was told by the Hotel Director onboard a week or so ago, while I was on the cruise, that 75% of the crew are American, the rest are international. Norwegian Cruise Lines was allowed special permission to employ only 25% international crew.

As far as the ship, it's exterior looks a little unusual, but her interiors are wonderful. POA is actually an attractive ship next to the EPIC.

I was impressed with the crew.....It was intriguing being served by mostly Americans on a cruise ship. I was told that the costs to operate the POA is equal to FOUR Internationally registered ships.
