The former Nippon Maru was launched in 1930 and built for National Institute for Sea Training. She had been sailed for about half a century and once called "Swan of the Pacific".
She was retired in 1984 and now moored in Nippon Maru Memorial Park next to Yokohama Port Museum near JR Sakuragicho Station on JR Negishi Line or Yokohama Municipal Subway-Blue Line.Nippon Maru is maintained by ex-Crew Members of Sail Training Ships and Volunteers.The are worked for Sail Drills(Occasionally, about 12 times in a Year).

Sail Traning ship Nippon Maru (Video clip) passed under the Kanmon bridge to call at the Port of Shimonoseki on Jul 31 to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the opening of the Port of Bakan : the ancient name of Shimonoseki.
Sail traning ship Kaiwo Maru (Video clip) arrived to the Port of Shimonoseki on August 1, Two Tall ships visited in the Port of Shimonoseki for the first time.Sail drill for the Kaiwo maru cancelled on August 2 due to weather conditions.
