I may assume that U.S. members of the forum have heard about the radio program 'A Prairie Home Companion' (there will also be a movie soon) - just noticed that there will be 'A Prairie Home Companion Cruise' aboard the Zaandam this year.

This is interesting! I only came across it two weeks ago and thought it is very common here. (I have actually also been told that it is very well know in the U.S.) So maybe you should go to the archives section and get a taste of it. (or - if you are brave - go on the cruise )

I can´t tell you - friends I have in other parts of the U.S. also knew it - I just came across it rently and found it quite interesting. (let`s see whether I still find it nice in some months...)
Looking at their webpage I saw that they have a dedicated cruise - and it certainly is the duty of every member to report such things to the forum.
