ECSTASY Power Failure
Rich
Dare I saw a lot of us have been on a lot of ships that have had 12 minute power losses or worse ... and some people may be none the wiser.
Had it happen on the RV Sea coming up the Pacific Coast. It was a formal night and the captain joked it was due to everyone plugging in hair dries, curling irons, etc. to get ready.
Did it several times on the RV Sun when she was still very new. At least once it happened late at night after most of the passengers had gone to bed and dare I say most sleep through it.
Had a small fire/explosion on the Veendam at the dock in Jamaica where before we could sail they had to take two crew members to the local shore hospital.
Had a fire in the funnel on the QE2 mid-Atlantic.
And I am sure everyone here can recount or similar minor mishaps most of which never made the news ....

I've been on 4 different ships that have lost power while at sea, the funny thing is on two of the (Westerdam and Caribbean Princess) it was just as the wife turned on her hairdryer..
On the Westerdam we joked about it with a family we hooked up with (who we since cruise with at least once a year), on the Caribbean Princess the power went out, from the cabin next door we hear "Jennifer, you did it again" then a couple of seconds later one of their kids knocks on the door to ask if she had really "killed another ship"....
The joys of cruising.
