This is the second death this week from a passenger falling inside the ship. Earlier someone fell from an upper deck of the Carnival Fantasy's atrium. These and the Costa Concordia are certainly leading the year off oddly for the industry.

I can see a passenger accidentally falling down a flight of stairs. The incident in the atrium is another story.

I remember while on VOTS the shiny marble staircases seemed very slippery.
Even though I usually avoid staircases in the atruim areas which have this type of stairs.I tend to stay close to the handrails. When Norovirius has been reported I don't like to touch the rails.
My wife tripped and fell down some stairs near the theatre on one of our cruises.
She was alone at the time laying at the bottom of the stairs, NOBODY offered to help her get up,probably thought she was drunk. I had to get a big bag of ice for the lump on her leg.
