I assume you mean the 'supports' seen in this picture taken by Andreas Depping... http://www.depping-design.de/test/displayimage.php?album=199&pos=38 That bulge extends pretty far out, reminds me of the overhang on the Radiance and Millennium-class ships. I'm sure one of our technical engineers could weight in with the exact reasons but it has to be for structural support.
