Thanks. Back near the beginning of December around 40 cabins were flooded, reportedly by a saboteur causing 1m Euro worth of damage. See here [German] and Greybeard's comments [scroll down a bit].

Did anyone ever find out what really happened and if someone was charged with vandalism?

Great images. Her starboard side is certainly her best angle. The water coaster (while entertaining)is an eyesore on the port side.

Do somebody know if the "Disney Dream" had some issues with the last bulge on deck 11? They added three pillows at the "Disney Fantasy" there to hold the deck. I've also seen pictures where two pillows were added to the "Disney Dream" later. It must been happened in January 2011. Structual Iusses or Vibration?!

I assume you mean the 'supports' seen in this picture taken by Andreas Depping...

That bulge extends pretty far out, reminds me of the overhang on the Radiance and Millennium-class ships. It has to be structural supports?

Yes, I means these supports. The question is why there weren`t built in the first way at "Disney Dream"?

I'm sure one of our technical engineers could weight in with the exact reasons but it has to be for structural support. Maybe they didn't realize until after the Disney Dream entered service that this would be an issue?

Here is a picture (also taken by Andreas Depping) of Disney Dream at her float out without the support beams...

I imagine the design is proprietary to Meyer Werft and Disney Cruise Line.

Just curious what is it about the design/ship that makes you want to sail it? Personally there is little about it that appeals to me, although I can appreciate the exterior aesthetics.

This ship has a clean sleek look to it. That extended bow looks racy. Funny how ships can vary so much. This ship vs Epic.

In the past, automobile and cruise/passenger ships design use to be very different. It been in the last few decades when design changed very little. There was an interesting article in this month's Vanity Fair magazine about how clothing, car and other designs haven't changed much in 20 plus years. Compared to the 1950s, 60s, 70s and 80s where great changes happened every 5-years or so, design over the last 20-years has evolved only slightly.

That's interesting. I find her extertior anything but sleep - actually, her proportions are horrible and the exaggerated bow does not help. Not nearly as nice as the older two of their ships.

I agree on the styling of cars especially. Some of the new cars have a top that looks chopped. Most are not attracive at all. A lot of hotrods had chopped tops but these blended well with the rest of the car.
I go to a lot of car shows and cruise nights with my car(1940 Ford Coupe). I see so many cars from the 70s on up that are Ho Hum!!
From the 30s to late 60s cars had character.Eg.1932 Ford coupe,(by far the most popular hotrod.) 55-57 Chevy and the 55-57 T-Bird.
Some of these can bring close to $100K.
Sorry not about topic but I am a car nut ,

The original twins are far better looking. For Frosty's benefit, the Original Disney ships are the 1957 GM line-up while the latest twins are the 1958 models. Most car people know the BIG difference.

There sure were unique cars-especially by the mid-1950s to the late 1960s when the US was at it's Postwar peak. Even mass produced cars had their own unique look. Since about 1990, most cars have a very similar look-be it a Bentley or a Chrysler. The materials and engineering are very different but the the exterior design offers little that is exciting or beautiful.

For seniors now,we remember how simple and easy life was way back when.
You could work on your car(change oil, spark plugs etc.) Now they charge $145.00 to plug in a computer to tell what's wrong with your car.
It's funny though about ships. Our first cruise was on American Hawaii cruises-Constitution built in the early 50s. This cruise was just before the line went bankrupt. It was OLD. Our next cruise was on RCL Sovereign OTS. A new ship.Big difference.
I know we have a lot of old ship lovers on this site.
Even though I like the old cars and stuff when I was younger,I prefer the new ships vs the old.
