FESTIVAL (ex SONG OF NORWAY, SUNDREAM, DREAM PRINCESS, DREAM, CLIPPER PEARL, CLIPPER PACIFIC) has been chartered to Spain's Quail Cruises as OCEAN PEARL, beginning on 7 March after a refit in Bourgas, Bulgaria, where she is currently laid up. She will use both Valencia and Barcelona as embarkation ports. Quail also charters GEMINI (ex CROWN JEWEL, SUPERSTAR GEMINI, VISION STAR).

Considering FESTIVAL's recent unfortunate history, I wish Quail every success!!

Quail's website is http://www.quailtravel.es/

Interesting, I saw her in Istanbul sailing up the Bosporus towards the Black Sea an a rainy evening in September. From a distance I couldn't really figure out which ship it was. She was painted with a white hull again

Lets hope her problems have been sorted and she does no let them down as happened when she was on charter to the Japanese Peace Movement.

Has anyone heard what has happened to the Pacific ?

I think that they are lovely looking ships. I remember seeing one of them in Barbados in 1986, with it's funnel lounge/bar still in place.

I recently read Captain Phillip Rentell's book. He is one of the masters of Saga Ruby & once captained these ships for Sun Cruises. It was a very interesting book. He was on the QE2 for ten years, including during the Falklands Campaign.

Graham.

Ernie,

I think she was actually in service on that picture! She sailed a short season as the FESTIVAL this summer, before heading back to Bourgas for further layup.
