Hi, we are a newly wed couple in our late twenties, early thirties and are looking to take our first cruise on Celebrity's Zenith. The cruise we were looking at stops in Mexico twice and the keys. I was wondering if anyone here could share with us any good/bad experiences they've had recently on this ship and if this is a good choice. From some of the feedback posted on this site, it appears that its more of a 50+ crowd and an older ship. Is this true or is it a fair mix? Has ship been recently updated? Is there a niteclub with dancing? We will be on our honeymoon and just want to have an enjoyable 1st experiece in cruising. Appreciate any feedback, thanks!

Celebrity have a very good reputation and are more upscale than many cruise lines. Their food is highly rated by most. Their ships are very spacious. You have made a wise choice.

The cruisetalkers will be able to add more.

I cruised Zenith several years ago and she was a very nice ship then. She was completed in the early 1990s and is smaller by today's megaship standards but very still large! She does not offer decks of balcony/verandah cabins but the cabins/suites are very comfortable and are comparable w/their larger newer ships. The decor is classic Celebrity which is elegant and very welcoming. You will have a great cruise on Celebrity.

I'm not a fan of Mexico/Cozamel etc. The Western Carribean is, in a word Blah IMHO.
A Southern Carribean is a better itinery. Celebrity is OK but I feel Royal Carribean has more to offer younger cruisers and their ships are newer.
As a honeymoon cruise you want this to be very special, read the reader reviews on this site under reviews and see what suits you.
Most Southern Carribean cruises leave from San Juan, PR
Happy Honeymoon,

There can pluses and minuses to having a large younger crowd on a ship that say Royal Caribbean and Carnival often attracts. IMO and a big plus when traveling w/an over 50 crowd is that there are usually more deck chairs available around the pools plus the more senior crowd tend to be better behaved. Don't get me wrong, the 'Baby Boomers' can party hard, but the feel is often more relaxed when the crowd is older. On most large ships in the Caribbean, you are going to get a mix of ages and backgrounds so there are usually plenty of people to hook up with and have fun. Royal Caribbean does offer the huge mega ships w/incredible facilities but their food is generally mediocre and cabins seem smaller than other lines like the more upscale Celebrity and Princess cruise lines. The Western Caribbean does offer some beautiful sights such as the Mayan ruins on the Yucatan Peninsula and the most incredible water you will ever see. The diving is great in the Cayman Islands and the sand like white powdered sugar. IMO that itinerary is more relaxing than the Southern and Eastern Caribbean.

1sttimers, I would expect a shorter cruise to have more young passengers than the longer cruises. As others have already said, Zenith is an older, smaller ship, but it's been lovingly maintained by a very dedicated crew. The service staff is very well trained and professional, and the food is delicious. The cabins might seem small if you've never cruised, but they're really pretty large by ship standards, and there is more than enough closet and drawer space. I think you would be hardpressed to find a better value for the cruise experience Celebrity provides. Have a wonderful time!
