we just booked a 7 day to western carib ... dec 6 on the Veendam.....have never been to 2 of their port destinations...

has anyone been to either of them.....doesnt look like much to do in santos tomas...maybe it's better to stay aboard for this one....?
ruins don't turn me on

i thought the cave snorkeling tour on belize would be good......or is it better to go on your own? the latter scares me as we could miss the ship if something delayed our return.....

Hi Palmtree:

There's much to do in Belize with cave tubing being one of the great trips. We've stayed in Belize and have had a wonderfiul time there but without a tremendous amount of research and a bit of adventureous spirit for you first trip there I would stick to a ship's tour. Arranging your own transportation is the big thing. Of course it's been a year since we've been there and maybe you can find a cave tour that will meet you at the cruise terminal.

On this site are people that live there and have traveled there extensively and they'll be able to give you detailed information. They'll also be happy to give their opinions on anything.

thanks for the reply......we do have shipboard credit so perhaps that is the best way....just hate to be in a snorkeling pack where you only get to see flippers !! maybe Hal's clientele won't be big into snorkeling or cave tubing !!

wish someone knew something about Santo Tomas....seems like a big secret...maybe best to stay aboard on that stop !!

Palmtree: It has been quite awhile since we were there but I do not think it has changed much. there is no town close by there was a flea market in a park walking distance from the ship. There also was a resort close by that you could get to by walking. Not much there
