An old episode of the Partridge Family just came on and it is filmed onboard the Fairsea. What a treat to see the interiors and decks.
It surprising that the whole show seems to be filmed on the ship. I haven't seen one scene that appears to be filmed on a set. Wonderful footage. They have just about shown every pubic room and even the cabin scenes are filmed in the actual cabins. Right now they just had an evening walk down the entire length of the starboard promenade deck. What a treat to see this ship again.

Thanks for the episode info, Joe.
The only disappointment was the complete lack of shots of the ship from shore or air. I am sure they were edited out to save running time when the show went into syndication. I'm only assuming this, but I can't imagine that Sitmar wouldn't want the ship to be seen due to the fact that they made no to attempt to hide that this was a Sitmar cruise. The logo was everywhere. I would be curious to see the DVD of the original episode.

On the subject of ship spotting, we "ship people" can spot a ship or ship related item in any movie, TV show, shop, etc. without any concious effort. It a gift we have
But, there is one shot of a ship in a television show whose identity has been a mystery to me since I was a kid.
In the old 1960's sitcom, "The Flying Nun", Sally Fields is shown in the credits flying over San Juan. For an instant there is a shot of a dark hulled passenger ship in the harbor behind her. I have always wondered what ship that was. I have paused it on DVR but to no avail. Just a silly little thing, but it's been a mystery to me for almost 45 years.
And for those of you who are wondering...Yes, in the 60's we actually had a TV show here in the U.S. about a nun who could fly.

I always notice that momentary blip of blue hull also when I see reruns of The Flying Nun. The color looks like Lauro Line...maybe Angelina Lauro? She used to do a lot of Caribbean cruises in the 60s and 70s didn't she?

The ship seen in "The Flying Nun" intro (1967) is either the COVADONGA or the GUADALUPE, of Cia. Trasatlantica (The Spanish Line), in service between Spain and Vera Cruz.

I missed that Partridge Family episode! I wonder how I missed it as I watched it every Friday night (after the Brady Bunch) in the early 1970s.
