Even though I always preferred Italia's beautiful Conte di Savoia over Rex, that model of her is amazing.

Getting up close to that model and seeing all the detail was the next best thing to being on the real ship. Oh, to have been aboard her!:

I like the pictures of the model...any reason why a model of an old ocean liner would be at Sea Trade? I've always thought the REX was an interesting ship. Oh to have a time machine and wander the decks of some of these old ships.

This was asked in another thread, also: the REX model was the centerpiece of the Fincantieri pavillion, surrounded by several models of their current, modern ships. In all of Fincantieri's literature, brochures, promotional videos, etc., they stress the long history of the yards as well as famous ships they built.

This is a very beautiful model. Although I prefer Rex running mate Conte di Savoya. But both where elegant vessels.

I am going to "geek out" looking at this picture!
I have always loved the design of Rex's hull (even though her forward superstructure is a little odd). She has such beautiful lines!!

Yes, color photos of REX are rare. A friend of mine took this in New York, in early 1940. You can see her neutrality markings located midship.

I always preferred the Conte di Savoia, but must admit REX, IMHO, was the better name. It rings well on the ears in English....short and sweet sounding.

Those colour pics of Rex are absolutely stunning! I agree with NAL, I must prefer the Conte di Savoia, but the REX is a beauty.

Does any one have any colour pics of Conte di Savoia? How about interior shots?

Yesterday it struck me that in the 1953 movie Gentleman Prefer Blondes with Marilyn Monroe and Jane Russell there is a flash color footage of a Italian Line vessel. I believe it was REX or fleet mate Conte di Savoya. I will look if I'm able to take a screenshot of the scene.
