Hello,

As most of you know, the former Renaissance (now called "Blue Monarch" has been sold to Indian breaker. A MOA was signed and SEEMS to be finalized yesterday as the flag of the ship has changed for Sierra Leone and the call sign has changed for "9LY2227" (2010-03-04 23:06)

She is still located in Greece (Perama), but the departure seems to be close to the final voyage. I will post updates during his long road to Alang, as business is subject of many changes in the scrap maritime world. Mostly the buyer ...

Hello,

It's not officially reported on Equasis, because they need to have all the paper in order to change everything. but data queried was asked for chages:

Date of query Complainant Data queried Under investigation by Status Date of status

2010-03-02 Ship manager Ship status LRF Verification in progress 2010-03-02

It's really a couple of days ago. A flag and a port painting are easy to change. I have no information about her departure, but it could be very soon.

She has now been renamed "Maestro" and departed Ampelakia on the island of Salamis half an hour ago, bound for Bhavnagar, according to her AIS signal.

Best,

Hello,

She needed probably to do some sea trials before the last voyage. It was confirmed on a Greek forum that she has been renamed and re-flagged physically (Maestro, home port Freetown/Sierra Leone

The engine have not worked at full speed since a long time, so they have to be very careful.

Blue Monarch / Maestro sailed this afternoon about 13.00 hrs. from her Piraeus Roads anchorage.

Her speed has varied between 5 and 13 knots over her present course on the AIS maps

It's sad to see another classic cruise liner go.
I had the chance to get a glimpse of her just a month ago and externally she still looked splendid.

Here is a photo taken on March 3, at Ambelakia near Piraeus.

Cut the guy some slack and post what should be the correct word: 'canal', as in the Suez Canal.

CT Members are supposed to have better manners than this. No wonder some folks just up and leave, getting tired of the grade school mentality of some of you. But I guess that is too much to ask?

That is exactly why I cut back on my posts here.
Though CT has been my homepage for many years, I eased back on posting when all the bickering got out of hand.
Some arguments are expected as this is a public forum and there is quite a diverse group of us here. But, it started getting to a point that too many posts were completely thrown off topic because people were correcting or commenting on others' English, spelling, intelligence, and countless othere petty things that were hurtful and rude.
I just didn't want to take a chance and mis-quote and date or mispell a foreign word or even express an opinion for fear that I would be ridiculed and made to feel stupid.

I have never left CT. I love it. It's the best cruise/ship site on the web.
Everyday I read every post and occasionally post a thank you or short note. But that is all I dare.

Now, since I've got the floor, let me say this....

Those of you who have felt it their right or job to disrupt the forums with your childish, egotistical, rude, unexceptable behavior should just go away. PLEASE go away!
This is where I come to learn and share my love of ships with people all over the world. I couldn't do that before the internet. It was libraries and travel brochures.
Here I have what I never had before...Friends that share my love for passenger ships. I will be damned if I am going to listen to anymore of this $%^&>! and see us lose any more members.

All we can do is COMPLETELY ignore these needless posters or wait until they are finally ousted form CT.

Michael is gonna start taking this site back from the "pirates". We have lost too many posters because of the behavior of too many insensitive posters. It's sad and we can't let it happen any more.

I don't want to have to go back to the TA and ask for old brochures again. I'm too old.

Michael

Michael & Anders

There is no bickering just a little micky taking with LenKinap with whom I do exchange private messages.

When peoples sense of humour has died it can also affect the number of postings on a forum.

VERY well said Micheal. Thank you.

Perception is in the context of what the reader reads, and not always what the originator posts. What may be a fun jab between 'internet aquaintances', may be interpreted as ridicule by strangers, especially in a public internet forum.

The problem is Neil, whenever someone starts taking the micky with you, you start crying out loud to anyone that will listen.

While I respect that LenKinap and yourself are sharing a private joke, the issue is, you come across as a d**k to everyone else.

While I really do respect your knowledge on certain things, maybe you should stop for a second and think how things look to other people ?

Oh !

Many thanks for the comment about my knowledge.

Elsewhere we have gained over 500 new members since Christmas so a little micky taking does work and helps to keep a forum light hearted and friendly which it appears posters do like.

It is not so much a question of crying out aloud, if I have the micky taken.

I just stand up for myself, which some people may not expect, and say what I think.

The quantity of members does not necessarily reflect the quality of the contributions. Some members join and then either 1) never come back, 2) browse and dont contribute, 3) or are members with valuable contributions or questions. I am a member of that site 'elsewhere' and much prefer this site. Even CC has a huge number of members yet I would imagine the largest number of contributions there deal with endless repititious subjects of 'onboard life' questions.

Not everyone understands or appreciates jabs at another members sense of intelligence, especially when it comes off as unwanted sarcasm.

And as for a sense of humor, Malcolm has a great one is is almost always appreciated for his cunning wit.
