Soem may get their undies in a knot over this but hot from Dubai last night my neighbour could not wait to share.

QE2 is currently in dry dock (and must have been for a week or 2) - the only major change he could see is that she no longer has a funnel !

A local at the docks informed him that it has been sold and is being prepared to shipped overseas.

Maybe they need to seel bits of her off in order to afford the docking fees !

Her AIS of less than a minute ago shows her exactly where she's always been alongside in Dubai.

Im with Pam too... Rem plans for the vessel were still being looked at. Couldnt see how this would have happened this quick. Im not even sure we will see her greatly rebuilt if at all. Funding has to be very hard to get, since many land based new projects been put on hold

If there is no clear evidence (i.e. pictures) by then the Crystal Symphony visits Dubai on the 16th (9am local) and departs on the 18th (noon local). She has a clear nice webcam....

Then why wasn't this news spread on the newswires? Everyone would have known for sure. However, if Dubai goes along with their original plans to turn the QE2 into something that she is not, then the project may become a total failure. Or perhaps not.

Ask your friend to take a picture of the removed funnel so that we can all see it for ourselves.

The Marine Traffic.com AIS map for Dubai is showing her as still being on her usual berth.

Her longitude and latitude position remains the same for the last 30 days.

Well we are about 24hrs away from the Crystal Symphony pulling into Dubai. I hope someone can grab some webcam images as she pulls in to see if QE2 is still in one piece and in the same place as we last saw her. Or if she has in fact been moved to a drydock and is sans funnel.

Gene Sloan from USA Today showed her a couple days ago in his blog from a Silversea ship. She is still intact, albeit a little lonely.

It does make you wonder whether interest in doing anything with the ship will start to fade the longer she sits there.

Nice article. Will still be watching Crystal Symphony's webcam even though I'll be at work (have my internet phone with me). Always nice to see the QE2. Would be nice to see more webcam grabs of her. Hopefully someone can get them?
