Hi, Does anyone know if any pictures exist of any of the new interiors of Queen Elizabeth when converted to Seawise University. There seem to be quite a few photos about of her externally during conversion and in disaster but I have only seen descriptions of the new interiors. A while ago I bought a couple of near identical leaflets for the maiden voyage and deck plans but the only photos are of a couple of the cabins. Any ideas anyone?

I have a friend who was visiting the ship during her conversion and he was able to snap a few interior shots. Unfortunately, most of them did not turn out so great as he was in a bit of a hurry...

From brochures I have seen of the retired liners CY Tung brought in the late 1960s and early 1970s, little was done to to the public rooms on his other ships. Soft furnishings were recovered, a few Asian art pieces and furnishings added and that was pretty much it. There was little reconstruction/reconfiguration of the interiors on QE1 from what I have have read.

i sailed on oriental empress,as well as president wilson and though i was a child both times i seem to remember mainly cosmetic differences (carpet, furniture, color schemes) new decor reflected an oriental influence.biggest difference was tourist class dining rm sealed off.

Oriental President(ex-P. Cleveland) retained the Marco Polo(formerly Tourist class Dining) room.
The California (dining) room renamed the Lotus room.

I rarely contribute or post for fear of retribution, but I finally see that some members can be terribly droll and amusing. What a pleasant, if rare, change.

Now THAT should start a real firestorm! LOL
