Two names I always thought would be good for Disney were
Fantaisa and Walt Disney.

I think the obvious ones are Dream & Star, but too many ships already with those suffixes.

Disney World
Disney Land

I'm thinking DISNEY DREAM and DISNEY ENCHANTMENT.

Those names really embody what Disney is all about even if both are already being used by other cruise lines.

Great news to hear Disney is ordering two ships! It is a bit surprising that they are waiting 5-6 years for delivery. It seem very rare in the industry for such an early announcement.

From this angle of the above picture, reminds me a bit NCL's STAR-class bow and "face", RCI's RADIANCE-class balconies, and AIDAaura top decks.

Oh ITA JSS - the NCL "hull art" is ghastly. It looks like impetigo.

As for names, how about "Disney Hurts"? (collective groan from Travelpage.com posters).

Totally elated by this new project.
The hull is fantastic IMHO and the superstructure a bit heavy.
It will release Disney Wonder to new itineraries such as Asia (as per HK) or Paris(Le Havre) in summer?

I just saw the high resolution renderings of the new ships on the Disney Cruise Line site. Like QM2, the hulls will be wider than the superstructure and will not have the added width at the bridgefront or stern area. The forecastle looks similar to the original pair w/a crew lido.

Firstly, I love to see ships with two funnels even if one does house the teen’s club!

I love the external appearance of the original two Disney ships. I particularly like the circular 'Art Deco' like bridge structure, which is very distinctive and different to most (all?) other cruise ships.

However from the drawing, the two new ships look a bit like 'Vista Class' vessels crossed with RCI ships. The bridge structure is nowhere near as interesting as the original two vessels semi-circular bridge structure. The only real features which makes these new ships distinctive is the dark hull and twin funnels.

So I’m a little disappointed, really. Having said all of the above, they do look more attractive than many new ships.

The new ships may have the same bridgefront except for the enclosed bridgewings. The renderings show a two deck high angled bridgefront but the rendering is not that detailed in that section-could be the design has not been finalized. There are also some sort of windows that wrap around on the lower decks-again not to detailed yet. The side elevation shows a two deck section angled forward just like on the original ships. It is a unique and interesting design feature that I hope is included on the new ships.

If any company on earth knows how to make total use of every square inch, it is Disney. The Faux funnel will be well used.

I read that the yard which produced the first two units, were annoyed at how much Disney participated and otherwise poked into things while they were being built. Seems to have paid off.

I agree that we cannot really judge detail from the drawings, but on the face of it I'm not over impressed.

However, I may well be impressed when I see more detailed drawings or the images of the real ships!

From the images it is possible that one of my favourite/ ought to be essential features is in the design. A forward looking public room. There is a sets of forward view windows above AND below the bridge so hopefully that will mean a room with a forward view which is NOT the Gym. I also note that the disney feature up on the lido decks of 'sticking out bits' - there is a proper term I'm sure - which evoke lifeboat positioning on old fashioned liners has been maintained. I look forward to these ships.

If you go to Yran & Storbratten's site, www.ysa.no and go to concepts you'll see some preliminary design work and the finished model of the new Disney twins (and it's an interesting site anyhow!).

Whatever became of the observation lounge that was supposed to be built at the top of the no. 1 stack? I think it would have been one of the best views from a ship. Why was it dropped from the original design? Problems with RCI or prehaps airflow for the second stack?

Good question. It seems if you're going to have a dummy funnel you might as well make the most of it. Let people up there for a great view.

Very nice. I agree, they'll most likely be the prettiest fleet in service.

I'd come up with names, but I'd like royalties if used. And knowing the way Disney works, that's never happening.
