...., the "KING" so to speak was always the Regent Hong Kong - Still rated one of the best hotels in the world, although now known as the Intercontinental Honk Kong.

The Regent Hong Kong was named number one in the “Top 20 Pacific Rim Hotels,” in Condé Nast Traveler’s 1998 Readers’ Choice Awards.

The Hotel had a major makeover in 1999 or 2000, infact it was closed completely for several months and completely gutted and the interiors rebuilt. It reopened in time to host the entire International Olympic Committee during the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games - including Juan Antonio Samaranch (if thats how you spell it). Ofcourse it was still The Regent Sydney back then, forget when it changed to Four Seasons...

The $65 million (approximately US $40 million) renovation was worth it. Finished in time for the Summer Olympics, the 531-room hotel was the official venue for the International Olympic Committee during the Olympics.

The Regent Sydney was re-branded as Four Seasons Hotel Sydney effective June 30, 2002.

The whole hotel just ooozez elegence and the service is impecable - benefiting from its asian location.

As P&O stated Intercontintal Honk Kong offers unrivalled views of Victoria Harbour and Hong Kong Island though the Marco Polo Hongkong Hotel is situated adjacent to Ocean Terminal and ideal spot to photographers for taking pictures of cruiseships.

I had always thought they were going to rename themselves "Seven Seas Cruises". Far more elegant than Regent, I say.

I don't think I did ... but I remember how much I enjoyed the hotel and the location. It was excellent.

I doubt they will go back to the Seven Seas name. The now departed Song of Flower was the only ship in the Seven Seas Cruise Line fleet prior to their merger with Radisson in 1994. Radisson then owned the Diamond, which was sold in Spring of 04 to the Hong Kong billionaire.

Having cruised with RSSC for over 11 years, the name is synonymous with style and class. Why change the name after all these years?
