Here are some pictures of the old Princess Marguerite undergoing her annual docking. Thought some of you might enjoy these. I took these when I was quite young, rode my bike down and with my little insta-matic camera took these! How have times changed....now you need security clearances and all to get in to the dock area.

Wonderful picture VDK! What is that other ship in the 1st picture? Not only do you need security clearence to get close to the dock area in the shipyards, but even in cruise ports, you can't get too close. Before 9-11, the chances of receieving a ship tour at ports were greater than now...

VDK,

Do you know what ship is in the background in the photo in the upper left corner..the first photo? Looks like the France sort of????? But yet it is not. Curious to know what that ship is.

The ship in the forground was one of Sealand's fast container ships (30knts plus). It was laid up there for a while. Its my understanding that these ships are now in service with the USN as there pre-deployed heavy lift ships.

VDK,
the Sealand ships were built in Germany.
They were responsible for my interest in container ships(big and/or fast ones only).
I'd love to see their bottom!
A computer model based on them was used in the movie Godzilla, on my DVD must get list.
