In reading some of Desirod7's past posts I came across several CT's names I haven't seen in a long time? Where are they now? Onno comes to mind among others. I know Topgun passed away. RIP

Onno is certainly still around, I hear from him regularly. He was posting here fairly recently - perhaps he is busy right now?

For those of you who remember Britanis, I hear from him occasionally and last time he was doing well but much too busy to post on CT.

I miss gohaze who passed away a few years ago... I thought of him when on MARCO POLO this year as that was his favorite ship. (And now one of my favorites, too.)

Has anyone heard from Dmitriy, Italian Cruiser or Namlit lately?

I haven't heard from Terri Lee in quite some time. I know she was having some health problems and do hope she is OK. She has stopped cruising so maybe that's why she is no longer posting.

Well this is a blast from the past - thanks for the email Malcolm! Since I fled the family nest, cruising has become a bit out of my reach for the time being. I'm still travelling lots though as I'm crew for a major international airline. I was very sad to hear Topgun and gohaze are no longer with us - RIP. I hope however the rest of you are all very well!

I know this answer is a bit late, but last I heard Mark and his partner have been spending much of their time on various HAL ships. He's also working on a number of manuscripts.

Thanks, dougnewman. The last I knew, Vulcania [Mark] was living in Baltimore. He loves Rotterdam VI and Amsterdam and frequents both ships. I hope he returns to posting as he always had valuable info and insight.

I don't think Mark is that fond of AMSTERDAM - he much prefers ROTTERDAM, his favorite ship.

He does still live in Baltimore, as far as I know.

Then there was "Ocean Liners," from Japan. I believe he pulled out of the board when objections were made to his "travel bureau" postings. I suspect he still reads us, but does not ineract.

I recall that Ernie was tired of a certain poster on this site. I am on another site and a woman who frequently posted wrote to say she was stopping her posts due to poor behavior by some posters.

Ocean Liners is still posting, to cruise ship pictures and videos and ferry travel. He created quite the "who ha" and new categories were created to settle the complaints many of us had about him.

He does not communicate with the board, rather he just posts, almost every day it seems.

I haven't heard from Ernie in quite some time.

Malcolm, and Joe,

I don't say this to sound arrogant, I am just being blunt and truthful. The reason you don't see many of the old regulars around anymore is due to the lack of civility and lack of intelligent discussion. This forum became quite childish and churlish for a period of time and people drifted away - I know I did.

The same thing has happened to the old "Liners List" - you have a handful of members that must always know better than everyone else and/or you get nothing more than a chorus of snarky comments on some topics.

I don't know what the cure or the fix is, but that's my take on things.

Warmest wishes to everyone for a safe, joyous and merry Christmas. May the spirit of the season stay with you!

I have seen Onno on Facebook from time to time. He had a photo of himself holding up the poster he made:
Evolution of the Ocean Liner. I'm doing fine myself. Basically, I'm still trying to round up photos of interiors of cruise ships I was on in the past because I didn't take interiors of them too much in the early 80's to 1990s.

Not that this worked. A new category was created for photos and videos, where his posts would fit in. Yet he's continued - unchecked - obsessively to flood another category with his posts to the extent that it's now completely useless for anything else.
