Intersting that one scene shows a lifeboat from the Achille Lauro. Always amazing to watch that video and the brave entertainers who saved the passengers.

The same 3 [there were 2 men and a lady IIRC] were also paramount in the Sun Vista sinking too... again last to leave after having assisted getting all the pax off.

There is a wonderful video of the Olympic in the 1920's on there. In fact there's quite alot of good ship videos. Even the ending to the Britannic movie

Thanks Linerrich! , that was fantastic to watch.There was only one mistake i noticed and that was when it said "1st Class Lounge" it was actually footage of the reception area on D deck.

All of us on here need to keep checking Youtube as there is new stuff been added all the time.Maybe we could keep this thread for just "Ocean liner" related material off Youtube till we can find no more

Amazing footage. The images of the passengers crawling around at the stern waiting to be rescued was unbelievable. I hope there was no casulties.

In the video they call the Oceanos : a " great luxury liner" !

Of course it sounds better than "old little budget cruise ship".

Hi ,

Had a look at the video and it brought back so many memories, I was a passenger on the Oceanos when it sank on the 4th of August 1991, exactly 15 years ago today. I was wondering if there were any other passengers who were on the cruise who may frequent this web, if so please drop me a line.

Welcome aboard, it must have been a harrowing experience. Can you share any memories of the event? How did you find out the ship was in trouble and how was the evacuation handled?

Gosh RoseMarie what an 'experience'.. hopefully one not to be repeated. The only 'memories' I have seen in writing are those of the band who also had the unfortunate experience of also being on Sun Vista when she went down

both times being amongst the last to be rescued having assisted in the evacuation of the passengers.

As Joe asks.. have you written down the story? I am sure many here on Cruisetalk would love to read what went on from someone aboard.
