Among others, I am tired of seeing the name Topgun as the lead subject on this forum.

Desirod is responsible for this as he similarly held the spotlight for gay cruisers for some time elsewhere on this website.

I suggest that we try some different subject matter.

As a for instance, why could not cruise lines offer the optional service of putting all kids between the ages of six and sixteen in suspended animation for the duration of the voyage.

Surely this would make all cruisers with or without kids ecstatically happy.

Over to you Desirod.

One, I am sick and tired of breeders flaunting their lifestyle in my face. Can't they keep it in the bedroom?

Gays and lesbians spend $50,000,000,000 a year in the American travel industry.

Two, as for kids between 6 and 16, I agree in concept, but not execution:

Have escort service on cruisehips. Like marijuana on cruiseships, once into international waters, they can provide such, just like gambling.

Just think, all the rowdy teens will be busy learning about sex in a safe manner, and when done be too exhausted to be rowdy. It has been proven that rowdy behavior is pent up sexual desire.

Again, another profit center for the cruiselines.

The Carnival ships look like brothels anyway.

If cruiseships had escorts and hash bars, they would be so much more fun, and would attract new people to cruising who would otherwise never consider it.

I'm pretty sure that must be an option onboard the QM2?

Whilst Desirod's use of the term "breeders" made me smile, I have to say that I quite like having kids on ships. Why? Because it lowers the average age of the adult passengers as you get a lot of PARENTS travelling. I did a sampler cruise on Adonia recently and everyone on the crew told me not to cruise her for two weeks as the Adults Only policy pushed the average pax age into the seventies with the reult that the ship is dead after 10.00pm.

Sad news, he made himself famous for his kids and cruising topics (which are still out there in cyberspace.)

All the best to MS Grumple.

I've passed your messages on to Ms Grumple. I am sure she will appreciate them. I sure miss the "old" guy - he had a way of stirring things up but he was a sweetie.

Sigh I miss him too! He certainly did have a gift for keeping us on our toes, didn't he?

Happy flying (and sailing), Topgun!

Topgun did have 'a way with words'. He 'stirred the pot' in the best way possible.......with his wonderful humour.

I wish him Bon Voyage!

Thanks to all for the words of sympathy.
I know Don(topgun) thoroughly enjoyed 'stirring the pot' on Cruise Talk. It provided him with many hours of enjoyment and was a source of quite a few 'cyber-friendships'.
He was a very dear man, not at all the 'curmudgeon' he liked to portray.

Our dear Topgun is best rememberd here by his many wise and funny words. There are plenty to choose from, so here is a small random selection:

June 2000

Re the Topaz, if the ship is as vile as you claim, heres my suggestion.

Stay at home for one week.

Find a brick wall and pound your head agaist it during this period

After the one week, stop.

You will feel so much better after stopping and will also have saved your 450 pounds towards a trip with Airtours

April 2000

You know that you have chosen the wrong cruise ship when...I climb the boarding ramp and find a mass of 10 to 14 year old kids sent especially to greet me aboard!

May 2000

Quite clearly I stated that couples [of any age] should take their hormones to sea instead of their kids.

November 2002

I think that the ship and its destinations are complimentary.

Anything over 40,000 tons is not on my menu if it can be avoided. Whatever, nothing beats ones first cruise. Its like someone opened a new cookie jar.

May 2001

It occurs to me that a lot of funny things happen on board worthy of telling. To start off let me try and share our most recent "funny".

Having boarded and unpacked, I found that we were one spare blanket short for the bed.
I called the steward and he went off to get one.
Minutes later, there was a knock on the door, I hollered, "come in".

Nothing happened. I went to the door to open it. I met with considerable resistance and impatiently gave a massive tug.

Presto, the door flew open and the room steward was propelled into the room with the front part of his dress slacks ripped open to the knee.
The look of sheer terror on the stewards face had to be seen to be believed.

What had occurred was that this older ship, "Pacific Princess" was equipped with the old style Yale type lock.

The stewards pass key was attached to his belt and pants by a short 18" chain. He had put the key in the lock simultaneous with my jerking the door open. The rest is history.

Farewell Topgun.

Thanks Malcolm.... I will never forget us females being referred to as Dillybars An 'Airhead' or an Ice Cream? I don't recall ever finding out for sure, but could never resist the 'bait'.

Topgun is already an experienced flyer & trained at an RAF base near here, over which we had some interesting correspondence at one time. Bet he's up there flying about, eating ice cream, watching the topless shenanigans whilst bemoaning the slobs & kids on cruises
