This board has been so quiet! I thought I could liven it up a little by talking about my recent trip on the Explorer of the Seas. The ship is in great shape for being 14 years old. The crew keeps her clean and makes her feel so welcoming!

It was the 9 day Bermuda & Caribbean run. 9 days doesn't feel as long on vacation as it does in reality. She alternates 9 day Bermuda & Caribbean and 5 day Bermuda cruises from Bayonne. Most know the Explorer is heading to Port Canaveral at the end of the year before getting her "revitalization" in Europe. After a few sailing from Southampton, she'll work her way to Australia.

I must say, from what I've seen, I'm not really looking forward to Quantum replacing the Explorer. I'd like to try her out.. But the prices are a bit out of my reach for now. I am looking forward to the Liberty doing the Bermuda/& Caribbean run, though!

LaLa,

Thanks for sharing your experience. What were your fellow passengers like? I am curious what type of passenger goes on a 9 day cruise on that itinerary?

Joe

Hey Joe,

There were definitely a lot of families. School had definitely been out for a few weeks. I noticed a lot of people didn't come from the NY area(since we sailed out of NJ). Overheard people saying the flew in from California, Vegas; or drive from Ohio. Lots of kids, though I must say they were all pretty well behaved.

Glad you enjoyed the cruise and she's looking good. Any pictures? It will be interesting to see her in Southampton next year.
