I was thinking the same thing about the recent Grandeur of the Seas fire -- she was out of service for nearly 2 months, thousands of people lost their cruises, but the entire thing has been under the radar, no mobs of screaming people with torches and pitchforks, etc. The Zenith, formerly of Celebrity Cruises, now Pullmantur, had a fire recently and was taken out of service, but no fallout from that.
Had these been ships under the CarnCorp umbrella, we would never have heard the end of it!

Indeed, the point is that the media's bashing of cruise lines is very selective....i.e. if it's a Carnival Corp. owned vessel, they're out for blood – but Silversea can store meat in the sink of crew cabins and the first we hear about it is over a month later and on an internet message board.
To top it off, the response from Silversea's CEO, Enzo Visone, is nothing more than a whitewash. Instead of saying "WE dropped the ball," he instead blames it on the galley staff.
