Jeffrossatsea : I think there is a room for rent

May 16 was Brilliance Of The Seas * Maiden Call * in Olden,a very beautifull ship and a NICE sound of her horn.

And the day after on May 17 Queen Mary 2 was on a visit, she was welcome by fireworks.

hi Galaxy,

nice shots (as allways) and thank you

did you have more snow than other years?

or is it just early in the season that there is that much snow visible?

best,
Joe

Nice pictures.

We were on the Brilliance; I'll have to see if I can find you taking a picture in any of my pictures.

We were told that it had been a very dry winter.

Hello Tom.

So far Olden is not so bad affected by the strike, because its privat pilots in Florø,south - west of Olden,so the ships can get pilot onboard there....Today AIDAluna arrive here in Olden because of the strike, she is here together whit Arcadia and Ocean Nova......Balmoral have cancelled one norwegian cruise and is going to germany in stead......so we can get more ships and maybe less ships too....

Thanks for the information, Galaxy.

Balmoral is in the Kiel Canal as I write (4:30pm UK time) - perhaps still two hours from Kiel. I do't know where she's going then.

P&O have said (on their Facebook page) that the two of their cruises next week that would be most affected - Azura 7 nights to the Fjords and Adonia 14 nights to NordCap - will sail and proceed as expected. They depart on 2nd & 3rd of June respectively. It's another couple of days after that before they reach Norwegian ports, so by that time things may have changed. They have another cruise heading north next week on Ventura, but she's going round Iceland first and won't reach Norway until 11 June.

I like that picture of Arcadia.

P&O have taken taken the decision to re-route a couple of cruises starting this weekend that were due to go to the Fjords. Azura (7nts) will instead go to Zeebrugge, Rotterdam, Copenhagen & Goteborg, with the possibility of a dash to Oslo if this situation changes. Adonia, which was due to do a 14-night North Cape cruise all the way up and then all the way back down the Norwegian coast is instead going round Iceland, then to the Faroes and Scotland - agin with the intention of re-routing back to Norway if possible.

I think P&O were between a rock and a hard place with these cruises. Sod's law says that whatever they did would turn out to be wrong: if they divert the strike will be settled quickly, if they took a chance and maintained the original itinerary then the strike would continue. They can't win, even though it's not their fault. But there are a lot of unhappy passengers being called today & tomorrow.

Having re-routed two cruises away from Norway on Friday, on Saturday morning the news came that the strike was over and they were therefore re-re-routed back to the original itinerary! P&O had a terrible time trying to contact passengers, twice over. A number of passengers (lots?) had cancelled after the first re-routing (P&O were giving full refunds) and these passengers were allowed to reinstate their cruises. Even to the point where P&O said (on their Facebook site) that cancelled passengers who hadn't been contacted could just turn up at Southampton and it would be sorted out there.

But it's all over now. I'm looking forward to Galaxy's pictures of Azura in Olden, middle of the week...
