The KENTUCKY ENQUIRER reported that the AMERICAN QUEEN was out on sea trials late last week, and successfully completed them. The blog on Great American Steamboat Co.'s website further reported that the boat underwent U.S. Coast Guard inspection after the trials. The AMERICAN QUEEN's innaugural cruise out of New Orleans is scheduled for Friday, 13 April.

Can wait to go down to the Public Landing to see her! We'll be on the Sapphire Princess when she arrives on 5/4, so I'll have to head down when she comes back on the 8th.

Hi Russ, she also has two dates for Pittsburgh in July in which I plan on heading up there as a birthday present to myself, spending a day or two, and taking pictures. The view from atop Mt. Washington should be pretty cool. They told me she docks between PNC Park (Pirates) and Heinz Field stadium (Steelers).

I hope to sneak down to Louisville Derby Week and watch the AMERICAN QUEEN battle it out with the BELLE OF LOUISVILLE in the first honest to God steamboat race in America since 2008.
